A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was canceled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran. A U.S. military spokesman attributed the confusion to a misunderstanding that emerged after an Iraqi Army general in Karbala erroneously reported the items were of Iranian origin.

The United States tortures prisoners in violation of international law, former President Carter said Wednesday.

“I don’t think it. I know it,” Carter told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

In the appropriate circumstance the military option may not only be the best option, but the only reasonable course of action to save a people from its’ government… it is time, in my opinion, to exercise that option in Myanmar/Burma.

The following is the text of Ms. Nicole Demers (Laval, BQ) statement in the House yesterday regarding her opinion of the Unborn Victims of Crime Act, and the demonstrations that were taking place as she made it…. plus (of course) my opinion.

I could care f*cking less if Bernier’s ex-girlfriend knew a guy who knew a guy who was in a bike gang - you’re starting to sound like Americans. If you have nothing better for Question Period please contact me for assistance, I’ll give you some real questions that the government can provide partisan non-answers to.

With those sorts of skillz OMMAG probably shouldn’t be looking for a colour commentator job with the CFL, and I certainly wouldn’t want him mucking about with national economics, but CPoC Election Finance HQ might want him.

The City Council of Nanaimo BC is exploring the option of Internet voting in the next municipal elections. I wonder if they’re willing to expand that to allowing residents to vote via the Internet on actual municipal issues, as opposed to just choosing who decides on the issues on their behalf?

The OpenPolitics libel case goes to trial October, 2008. Please support the defendants in this important lawsuit which threatens to make authors and publishers responsible for collaborative content and the political comments of others. You can read about it over at OpenPolitics.ca. Yes, it is one of the Crookes cases.

    Else, send a cheque to

    Cambridge Green Party Association

Make the Cheque out to the association, but mark the cheque as being for the Legal Defence Fund as related to the Crookes vs Holloway et al. case, this is the case Mark is in. Money sent here will get you a tax receipt but does not indicate support of the party or its' platform, or help fund the OpenPolitics case.

When reading here you reminded of the words of Buddha: Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.
