– and I’m getting ready to head out for a night of revelry, merriment, flashing lights, pyrotechnics, loud music, a better than even chance of (pft…. who am I kidding) gratuitous drinking….. and little to no politics.
To my bunkermates, balbulican, treehugger, Lily, Ma x, and all the rest – thanks for another great year, and a great many thanks to everyone who stopped by either to talk things over with us, or even just to see what we’re up to.
From our bunker to yours we hope that you have a great time doing whatever it is you are planning to do tonight. If you’re headed out leave your car keys at home, and remember – like drinking and driving, alcohol and karaoke don’t mix.
If you happen to be out and about in Ottawa tonight I’m the guy in a black leather jacket, jeans, combat boots, pony tail, and an alcohol fueled lopsided grin – stop me and say hi.
See you in the new year.

Bravely bold Sir Stephen rode forth from Sussex Drive.
He was not afraid to lose, O brave Sir Stephen!
He was not at all afraid to be skewered in the House,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Stephen!

When Christian Crazies kill, it’s because they’re crazy.
When Muslim Crazies kill, it’s because they’re Muslim.
That is all.

Yesterday at precisely 1:30 pm, my ironometer blew up. Sparks and shattered glass everywhere. I had insulated it as well I could from the incredible levels of irony generated in blogdom, but clearly some blogpost or comment had seared right through my number nine filters and blown the irony gauges catastrophically off the scale. I have located the source of the catastrophic irony surge.

U.S. eases baggage restrictions after initial crackdown… not only that, but as further proof of Obama’s Muslim sympathizing spinelessness
“That business you were hearing with respect to not being able to move around for the last hour, no access to your carry-on, no live TV or telephone . . . all of that has been lifted by the United States, so that’s no longer applicable,”

Instead of muttering darkly in the shadows about the need to deal with Canada’s Muslim Problem, Kathy Shaidle has set out her Program – ban and banish. We’d like to hear from like-minded visionaries how that Program should be implemented.

‘US drone’ hits Pakistan home
At least four people have been killed and several more injured in a suspected US drone attack on a house in Pakistan’s northwest.
Pakistani intelligence officials said the missile strike targeted a hideout of anti-government fighters in the Babar Raghazi area of North Waziristan on Saturday.
But local security officials told Al Jazeera that those killed in the attack were all civilians.

New regulations regarding air travel into the United States have got to have people reconsidering their travel destinations – the
………during the final hour of flight customers must remain seated, will not be allowed to access carry-on baggage, or have personal belongings or other items on their laps.
- rule should be enough to see many rebooking flights to some place where the book on their lap, the iPod they’re listening to, the portable DVD player they’re watching a movie on, or the toy their child is playing with, aren’t deemed potential terrorist threats.

How did the Religion of Love become a lightning rod for vicious, jaw-droppingly stupid ideologues who think Ronald Reagan sitteth at the right hand of God?

Remember the furor a few months ago when a journalist published a report in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet that Israel was harvesting the organs of Palestinians killed by the IDF. Assorted gasbags like Bernie Farber were quick to label it as “blood libel” and these rubes were flinging around hysterical accusations of anti-semitism. Funny thing though. It turns out it was true.
