Off To The CAMA’s

Bright and early tomorrow morning I’m on a plane headed for Toronto and then on to Hamilton for the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. In addition to being asked to perform Tumivut is nominated for awards in the “Best Female Traditional Cultural”, “Best Group or Duo”, and “Best Rap or Hip Hop Music Video” categories.

For those not aware my daughter Charlotte is part of the great musical experiment that is Tumivut and I am really looking forward to seeing them perform, and accept awards (of course they’re gonna win one – there’s no doubt in my mind about that in my mind) on the big stage in front of the TV cameras :-)

I’ll be back sometime before the end of the week-end…..

Have a good time, stageleft. You must be quite proud. I’ll be rooting for Tumivut.

Back from the CAMA’s – Tumivut put on a great performance (of the sort that sent one of the other performers back to the dressing rooms for emergency make-up repair), got to share the stage with the some of the heaviest hitters in the Aboriginal music industry, has a very good chance of seeing TV time when the awards air if the huge round of applause from an appreciative audience has any influence on that decision making process, and got to hang out and meet with those same heavy hitters I mentioned earlier at the after party.

No wins at this years awards but we all had a great time – there’s some poor quality audio/video at Ustream that doesn’t do what happened justice, but here it is anyway. Tumivut at 1:05:00
