So What’s Plan B?

World leaders back delay to final climate deal

U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders on Sunday supported delaying a legally binding climate pact until 2010 or even later, under a compromise deal for next month’s Copenhagen summit.

That statement has been inevitable for a long time now hasn’t it?

According to other new articles seen earlier today COP15 is not on PM Harpers calendar at this point with speculation being that if Obama doesn’t attend Harpers shadow will not darken any Danish doorways either. If I was a betting man I’d put my money on Obama finding something else important to do that week, after the raking over the coals he got from the 1016 Olympics going to Rio it’s unlikely he’s going to want any personal association with the watered down, face saving, ‘this is an important matter of global concern, and we will continue working towards a solution‘ statement that it looks very much like will be the final out come of the conference.

Apparently the Brits are working on Plan B. Fear-mongering is out, inspiration and sensuousness are in.

Unfair or not, without China and India being part of the deal, it’s all the risk with no overall benefit for North America. I’m very suspicious of the reasoning behind the China/India exemption, quite frankly.

Oh For Fuck Sakes. What is wrong with these assholes?

They are politicians first and foremost Throbbin, and that means they are more worried about getting re-elected than anything else — see my comments in another thread for more on this.

Easy answer? Harper’s planning to shift part of the Canadian economy into Alberta oil-based sunblock products in hopes of raking up big bucks when the fit hits the shan. Another rumoured initiative is to create a new department devoted to chipping off bits of the shrinking Arctic ice cap and marketing it as “rare” bits of historical significance. At least, that’s what i heard.

You just hit the pollution nail on the head Sooey. Without the biggest polluters on side, this all means noting.

Just because my dumbass neighbours don’t reduce, re-use and recycle, doesn’t mean that it’s pointless for me to do my part.

10 years ago, Canada was instrumental in forging the first anti-land mine treaty.

Big land mine producers, the USA and Russia, did not sign on. Yet, we continued to promote the treaty and even without the worst offenders on board, the treaty saved thousands of lives.

Waiting for the other guy to take action is not leadership.
