Lou Dobbs Announces Resignation From CNN

He wanders around a fair bit in his resignation but the quick translation is “CNN gave me a choice of leaving quietly under my own steam or being canned for anti-immigrant tirades that most reasonable people find offensive – I chose the former

Up until a few years ago I used to watch Lou on CNN. Eventually, well before I disconnected the cable, I found that my tolerance for his increasingly bigoted screeds had found an end and his “news” segment got turned off before he had a chance to open his yop.

I fully expect to find Dobbs on Fox News before the end of the month – they like that sort of thing.

Wow, I am surprised. The last time I took any notice to ratings, Dobbs was the best of the bunch at CNN, although still pretty far behind the demagogue network (FOX).

I enjoyed his perspective on many issues, especially his tirades on the lack of proper representation in Washington and the corruption of so many politicians. He was a little to preoccupied with illegal immigration but he did make some good points on the issue.

Will he end up at FOX? Hard to say. I always figured he was trying to plot a course toward running for elected office as an independent.

Lou was on the right page conerning illegal immigration. Hello, the operative word is ‘illegal’ You got a problem with that, SL?

He also derided ‘political correctness’, latest case being the Ft. Hood slaughter. I imagine you must have a problem with Lou with that as well.

    Canuckguy – it’s a black & white world with you ain’t it?

‘Illegal’ immigration – hard to say we don’t have a problem with that, right? However, treating immigrants like cockroaches and pestilence does not put Dobbs on ‘the right page’ any more than calling Hurricane Katrina a tragedy put the Bush Administration on ‘the right page’.

And to hell with Political correctness right? If we feel it, it must be alright! Damn muslims! (am I close Canuckguy?)

My first reax… who the hell cares?! Good riddance. Da bum shoulda been given the boot a long time ago. Why couldn’t it also be someone in Canada like… um, I dunno, Lowell Greene? Rex Murphy? Charles Adler?

Then I looked for some answers to that first question, and found some here. And now I feel a bit better. :-)

    @Throbbin
Yeah, you got that right, you politically correct goof.
PS: Dobbs did not support treating illegal immigrants as cockroaches. He just wanted the USA to get its act together and control its borders. Nothing wrong about that.

Yeah. ‘Cause that’s what’s caused their grabillion $$$ deficit and economic collapse – Mexican labourers.

What the hell is political correctness, anyway?

@Canuckguy: I think from the post it should be pretty obvious that my issues with Dobbs revolve around his bigotry – listen to him long enough and you soon discover that in his opinion everything that is wrong with America can easily be blamed on dark skinned foreigners.

Well, Dobbs must be doing something right, ticking off some from both the looney left and the red neck right.

There`s no great art to generating outrage.

    What loony left?

Looking at his picture, one would think he was going into ‘arm wrestling’ competitions.
