Local American politics hold little interest for me – their lives, their decisions, their choices…. the Obama administration apparently doesn’t see it that way.
Take the case of Kinston, North Carolina, where the community decided they didn’t want partisan municipal elections anymore, and were over ruled by the US Department of Justice on the grounds that if there wasn’t a Democrat on the ballot black voters would suffer.

Scientists Speak Out Against Alarmist, Misleading Global Warming Claims
Senior scientists are speaking out against those who make exaggerated or inaccurate claims. The scientists have said that those inaccurate claims are actually hindering the efforts to curb global warming. According to the scientists exaggerated scare tactics to get people on board with aggressive climate change measures are resulting in the actual facts about climate change and dangerous greenhouse gas emissions getting thrown by the way side.

Quick — attack the show and make sure it never happens again !!
Last night Jon Stewart hosted the Israel/Palestine peace activists Anna Baltzer and Dr. Mustafa Barghouti. The angry response from the Pro-Israel crowd resulted in a backlash against the show for even having the discussion (including the shows first heckler in eleven years).

I just heard on the CBC news that a group of terrorists, some apparently Canadian, have been arrested for “plotting to overthrow the United States and set up an Islamic state” — seriously…. how did they think they were gonna pull that one off?

Don’t get close? Don’t shake hands? Don’t hug? — sheesh.
Humans are a social animal, one of the most social animals on the planet, and we are not only being counseled to act against our nature, but out of fear a great many are doing so.
Not me, I’m a long time hugger and I’m not about to change, fight the fear people – hug a friend.

I remember the pre-Internet world and quite frankly, at this point I shudder to imagine a modern world without it — the imaginations of the folks who submitted images to cracked.com on a world without the Internet are obviously fertile and give us a glimpse of what things might be like.
