Hyper-Partisan Mental Gymnastics

A post in which we reproduce a comment on the news article about Canadian Forces brass being worried that the rape of young boys by our allies in Afghanistan hitting the news – the commenter explains how this is not only a culturally accepted practice, but how the policy of turning a blind eye to it is fault of the Liberals.

How quickly lefty cultural relativists drop their convictions about the value of the longstanding cultural traditions of certain ethnic groups when it no longer suits their purposes. Unfortunately, maintaining an “Ashna” or teenage male prostitute, usually about the age of 15 or 16, is an ancient ethnic custom in some Muslim countries such as Afghanistan where there are strict social taboos about single men mixing with women. Prostitution is legal here in Canada, and it should be noted that the Liberals had made it legal to have sex with boys and girls as young as 14 here as well, up until the Conservatives recently changed our Age of Consent laws. Why would our troops deem such unseemly activities particularly noteworthy in Afghanistan where they are an ancient ethnic custom, when lefties had made them legal here in Canada for such a long time?

Those sorts of mental gymnastics really should have a home in the Olympics.

Sooey, that was just a piece of spam that got through the filter, not an oblique comment of any kind.

No, really – thanks. Now I know why I can’t stand my bookclub, anymore. It’s me AND them.
