But behind the scenes an entirely new movement was taking shape- a national network of Inuit and First Nation film-makers, broadcasters, politicians and journalists coming together for the first time to create a new national voice.
In five days the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, the most distinctly Canadian network in existence, will celebrate its first ten years – a birthday that means a lot to the folks at the Bunker, for a lot of reasons. Here’s the first of a five-part crash course in how APTN came into being, and why it matters.

It’s a really good line, one that I’m sure the party faithful will blindly parrot all over the InterTubes, but the the thing is…. Stephen Harper was not forced to do anything.

Rumour in the media and the blogosphere has it that Harper is going to announce another round of Senate appointments today – knowing his views on the Senate the bunker research team began scouring the news archives for what he’s said.
Little did we know the Liberals were 3 steps ahead of us and had already organized the goods in one place…… my favorite is

John Baird seems to have his knickers in a knot over the “political instability” a fall election call would create and the negative effect it would have on our fragile economic recovery.
Given that this is the same government that, not so very long ago, said that any talk of a recession in Canada was “stupid” and “ridiculous” my sympathy levels are low.
How’s that for ya…. the City of Ottawa has closed the beaches for the winter — I guess it’s time to yank the air conditioner out of the window, start banking the house, and dust off the snow tires.
Made it back to the bunker yesterday evening about 9:30pm – it was a long day on the road made longer because of construction, maintenance, and the general stupidity of other drivers.
