We’re In The Midst Of A What?

Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty tells us what kind of recession we’re in

They’re just making up sh*t as they go along ain’t they?

WTF does that actually mean?

Whooee! When they started talkin’ about “structural” deficits, I figgered they was makin’ it up on the fly. Ask the homeless about structural deficits. I reckon it must be a deficit of structures, like homes.

They invented sychronized swimmin’ an’ now it’s in the ‘Lympics. No reason Flaherty can’t invent a synchronized meltdown of the capitalist system of greed, backscratching and corruption. Givin’ buckets o’ money to the dumbass bankers who engineered this mess ain’t exactly the smartest move, sez I.

This can only be solved by prudent, flaccid localized import replacement.

Or perhaps by zoonotic capital repulsion.

I’ve heard quantum monetary juggling also is effective.

    Come on, whose with me?!?

Lemme put FM Jim through the ye olde secrete decoder rynge:

“Synchronized Global Recession” = “Whatever TF happens the next couple years wasn’t our fault”

I agree with JimBobby, although he forgot to mention the “technical” recession. What next, economic stimulus short program and freestyle? How about points for artistic merit?

Man, you need to introduce some sort of voting system for the comments :)

Dosanjh also bothered me – when talking about men and women losing livelihoods, businesses, and homes, is it really necessary to read a prepared speech?

@Throbbin – Maybe Iggy handed him the text of his question a bit to late for him to memorize it…….

“Why is this Prime Minister so utterly incapable of giving them hope?”
    Bullshit question, bullshit answer.
“Why doesn’t the prime Minister do X to give them hope?” might have started a more useful discussion.

This is the current Conservative talking point, and be sure to watch for future uses as frequently as “war on terror” was used after 9/11. Synchronized global recession is meant to infer that anything the government does has implied consent because this is a global recession and their hands are therefore forced in all they do. The same excuse was used when they cited the G-20 nations also tabling budgets of unprecedented fiscal shame.

I think it’s supposed to mean it isn’t their fault, and they aren’t responsible for doing anything to make it easier on anyone (except maybe ceo’s who really can’t manage on the paltry million they’re making these days.)

There was a “SGR” during WWII? Now we know Flaherty is insane.
