A Partisan Hack At The National Post

It seems that, according to Michael Taube’s thinking, a political blog must be partisan to be a “leading political blog”. He’s done a Best of the blogosphere (left-wing version) and a Best of the blogosphere (right-wing version) that he started off with

Who do you think are Canada’s leading political bloggers?

With the number one criteria for review being “the blog had to be partisan”.

I guess if you ain’t busy on yer blog excusing the hypocrisy of your guytm, while decrying the hypocrisy of the other guytm, you just can’t be a decent Canadian political blogger.

…. so a big round of applause for those who got top ten mention, and for you Mr. Taube we have a dunce cap — why don’t you put it on, go sit in the corner for a little while, and think about that entire segment of the Canadian political blogosphere that refuses to drink anyones kool-aid.

You’re being unkind. If it weren’t for this simple bifurcation of the world into Good lefties/righties and Evil lefties/righties, a lot of simple folks would be denied the pleasure of blogging.

Given that analysis more demanding than black/white will forever elude some of our dimmer brethren, it seems unkind of you to introduce this unnecessary level of complexity. In the current economic climate, productivity is everything – think of the time saved when you don’t actually have to read or understand a post to comment on it! If it’s a lefty, you KNOW what they’re going to say! Ah, the efficiency…

Maybe he should have had folks nominate blogs and vote on them… though as we saw at the CBA’s, that isn’t exactly controversy free either

At least don’t cut it nastyboy.

There are a bunch of very good political bloggers out there who have chosen not to blog for the party, and to ask the question “Who do you think are Canada’s leading political bloggers?” and then specifically leave them on the outside is to

    (1) show great ignorance of the politicial blogosphere make up; and

    (2) essentially say that unless yer a good party disciple you are not a leading political blogger.

Whooee! Thankee fer postin’this up or I might not o’ seen that I’m in that rarified NaPo ten best. Yeow! If I weren’t so dang lazy, I coulda been a contender.

I agree, btw, with the idea that political does not need to equal partisan and that there are many non-partisan political lefty blogs that outshine my little effort.

Still, now that I’m aware, I’m going to milk it for all it’s worth. ;)
