De Spin Boss, De Spin

I love hearing the CPoC mouth pieces talking about how “undemocratic” the Liberals are because everybody dropped out of the race but Ignatieff – have they forgotten that Harper was the guy who actually shut down parliament rather than allow a democratic vote?

I mean, seriously…. wft?

Ha! I say let them keep attacking Ignatieff and the Grits. It clearly hasn’t dawned on them that they actually need the Liberals on their side if they want to keep the CPC in power come January.

I’m sorry but a minority Conservative government… that is willing to spend upwards of $6 BILLION dollars on an auto bailout without a single vote in the house of commons… Conservatives are no longer allowed to use the word undemocratic… because if blowing that much money without any real debate isn’t the opposite of democracy… I don’t know what is.

“…that is willing to spend upwards of $6 BILLION dollars on an auto bailout without a single vote in the house of commons…”

Yeah, OK. But Jack! and Stephane & Gilles threw the # $30 billion out there, with no plan attached, and that was okay?

    What planet are you on?

My understanding is that Ontario (McGuinty, Liberal Party of Ontario) & his finance minister have a plan in place, having conferred ad nauseum with the federal minister.

Pick one: “Bush-Harper” is BAD, in which case Harper & his gov’t are WRONG to follow Bush’s policies (’cause guess who is still signing the bills until January 20/09?) or “Bush-Harper” is GOOD.

NOTE: Government and parliament are two different things. Proroguing parliament allows the federal government to function. Dissolution (what the coalition was after) does not.

NOTE #2: Obama does not take power, of any kind, until January 20. He can propose, he can plan, he can announce, but he cannot do a damn thing until then. Which, by the way, is why the gov’t wanted to wait until January to deliver a budget, so as to coordinate.

    OOOOOOhhhhh. BAAAAD HARPER.

Do your homework already, MER 1978

Sorry, that last post was off-topic. Re: “Da Spin, Boss”

I’m of two minds as to whether to accede to the accuracy of the turn of your post or not. The CPoC actually HAS a one-member/one-vote policy, so technically can call the Ignatieff coalition undemocratic (eg. to me, it stinks, but see the following, it’s not technically undemocratic according to the Liberal Party of Canada’s constitution, which probably has something to do with me not being a paying or card-carrying member of LPC). However, the Liberal party does not, and 2 of the 3 contenders stepped down (which would probably fly in the CPoC, it hasn’t yet happened so… who knows?) which is technically democratic in that there is only one person to vote for, but I could be a b*tch and mention any number of dictators around the world who ALSO stand un-contended and win, which equals most definitions of undemocratic.

Just because it’s hypocritical, doesn’t mean it’s not true.
