The Road Called
And I’m answering.
The weatherman is calling for +23 this afternoon so I’m taking advantage of the last of the warm weather and getting out on the road for the day with a few like minded friends.
As is usually the case we’re meeting for a late breakfast and then haggling over coffee just where we might want to start out for - I say “start out for” because it’s not unknown for the plan to change part way through the day and we end up somewhere completely different.

Gotta get it in while I can Robert, times running short even down here in the banana belt.
It was a bummer to find my rear tire shredding itself on the way home though, they’re obviously not making them like they used to. Mind you, I got about 9,500km (5,900 miles) out of it this summer so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much - and it did get me home before the air started leaking out.
One of the guys I was riding with said he’d never seen a tire lose chunks so close to the sidewall, my guess is that I snagged some sharp edge in the pavement when I was laid out low going through a turn - and if that’s the case I’m glad someone was watching over me and it didn’t blow part way through, the potential for significant ouch would have been great had that happened.
No worries, a new tire (with a harder compound this time) being ordered tomorrow morning and with luck I’ll be back on the road with new rubber by the week-end :-)
