The Richland County (S.C.) Sheriff’s Department has acquired an armored personnel carrier complete with a turret-mounted .50-caliber belt-fed machine gun for its Special Response Team.
Sheriff Leon Lott told the Columbia State newspaper that he hoped the vehicle, named “The Peacemaker,” would let the bad guys know that his officers are serious.

What were they carrying, flowers? Dildoes?
Only bad when the police arrest leftists. When they arrest righties, it’s proper; the righties deserve the jackbooting, of course, because they’re right-wing and demonstrating, meaning that’s a bad thing. Righties bad, lefties good.
So let’s take the guns away from the police. Let’s tell them to let “demonstrators” do whatever they want at all, no matter what. Only the bad guys shall have guns, then. Then armed civilians will take over the place! The armed civilians will kill the police and go and take over the government!

BTW, the demonstrators at the RNC convention were violent; they attacked RNC delegates. I suppose you’d rather the police not be prepared for this kind of violence?

a) Stageleft’s post was about the increasing militarization of the police, not about any left/right split.
b) You sound very childish compared to the rest of the participants on this site, whatever side of the political line they are on. You may have noted that some fairly contentious issues are being discussed here, with passion but with civility. MIght I suggest you try not to lower the tone? If you have a point worth making, it’s probably not strengthened with little playground taunts.
