Lets not be to harsh on the folks who enter, or even watch, demolition derbies. My dad and both my brothers have driven in the ones at the country fairs down east and I’m a big fan of the events, started taking my kids as soon as they could walk – as a matter of fact they had one in Navan on Friday as part of their summer fair that I went out and watched.

IMO there’s little more to quicken the pulse and bring a smile to the face than a country fair with its’ greasy food, carnival rides, musical chairs played from the backs of draft horses, and a good old fashioned demolition derby in the mud pit.

Occasionally Bruce and I will watch TV shows from the Seventies, and periodically a child on one of these TV shows will ask an adult why we have wars, and the adult will talk around it like there’s some huge……
