How I Spent My Day

Why do so many people find it amusing that I’m a NASCAR dad?

For those who are interested….. it was a great day.

I used to live in Richmond as a kid. How was it? I’ll always remember the demolition derby at the Richmond fair….the mulleted country folk crashing cars into each other always looked so cool…when I was 6.

It was great Throbbin, IMO there’s nothing like the smells and sounds of a race track to raise yer pulse and bring a smile to yer face.

Found a video on YouTube that shows the Suzuki MX free stylers who were in attendance – this is footage from the track yesterday.

Lets not be to harsh on the folks who enter, or even watch, demolition derbies. My dad and both my brothers have driven in the ones at the country fairs down east and I’m a big fan of the events, started taking my kids as soon as they could walk – as a matter of fact they had one in Navan on Friday as part of their summer fair that I went out and watched.

IMO there’s little more to quicken the pulse and bring a smile to the face than a country fair with its’ greasy food, carnival rides, musical chairs played from the backs of draft horses, and a good old fashioned demolition derby in the mud pit.

I;m not being harsh on them, I sincerely enjoyed the demolition derby’s. The mulleted comment was merely an observation, not a judgement.
