My bad. I read the other links but didn’t click the last one.

Only one other MP – also a Conservative – mentions this in Hansard and that was in an ironic question.

So what we have is two Conservative MPs mentioning a knife registry and even then only in irony (I accept that they probably weren’t serious) and no opposition MPs.

So Stock is making this up, taking the opportunity when answering serious questions in the wake of a terrible tragedy, to make things up and lie, to attribute to his political opponents positions they do not hold, in order to knock down those positions and look good.

That would be bearing false witness, no? Not a very ‘Christian’ thing to do…

Stock is a liar and he should be ashamed.

Stockwell Day: Certainly as we know if we’re looking at air travel, there are rules in terms of what you can bring onto an airplane. As I’ve said it’s an extremely rare case, as horrific as it is. Generally there’s little prohibition when it comes to knives. I understand there’s been some suggestion about some, there’s even been some talk on Parliament Hill about some kind of a registry.

This thing is of Days making and as I said, there are more than enough blind partisans willing to grab the smoke and run with it.

Nasty, I think SL point is that Stock is saying that some Opposition MPs are calling for this, when none are. In fact only Stock himself ever mentions it.

That means the whole “knife registry” is nonsense and a lie, cooked up for partisan political gain by a Government Minister trying to use a tragedy to smear his political opponents.

Stock is lying. If not he should name the MP who suggest this and they should be riduculed. But he won’t because the only one I have heard of is a Conservative, and it is unconnected to the Bus tragedy.

Did Stock say anything about a possible knife registry or that other MP’s are pushing for one? People are asking him questions and he’s answering them. In one of them he says it’s “unlikely”.
