Can You Imagine The Outrage –

– if this story took place in Iran, and it was Christian churches instead of mosques?

The planned construction of over 180 mosques in Germany is mobilizing right-wing xenophobes but also an increasing number of leftist critics. They fear the Muslim places of worship will facilitate the establishment of a completely parallel society.

The issue at hand wasn’t the construction of a missile base or a new nuclear power plant. Yet the media reported “turmoil” and an “enraged” audience in a school auditorium in Ehrenfeld, a district of the German city of Cologne. The mood was almost comparable to that of the protest gatherings once held against nuclear missiles or reactors.

If it were Christian churches in Iran the upper-right-quadrant-wingnuts would be using it as proof of Islamic intolerance and hate for God and the Canadian con-0-sphere would be on it like… well, use your imagination.

– think I wrong?

If it were Christian churches in Iran, we’d check the temperature in Hell. The signficant difference you overlook is that it is possible to build mosques in Germany.

Surely you are not ignorant of the fact that there are some very large Christian churches in Iran lrC…. and even if you are, your comment would beg the question ‘what is to be gained by becoming like them‘?

    Yes, you thunk wrong.

The mosques will, for the most part, turn into centers of hate. This is what the Krauts are afraid off. And I believe with good reason.

If a muslim country prevented churches being built in their country, we would just shrug because this is what we expect. And never mind Iran (you know of course Iranians have a knack for hanging homosexuals from cranes), Christians are leaving Iraq in droves in fear for their lives.

You Stageleft and Balbul, you would be among the first to dangle from a crane, not because you are homosexual but because you are a leftist. Muslims hate all that freedom and human rights shit. But you are blind to that fact.
PS: Not all muslims are like I describe, just the ones who seem to be running the show.
PSS: I am not implying you are homos, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I realize there are several religions represented in the region, many in very small pockets with a very small minority of the total population as adherents. I welcome the announcement of the planned construction of 100+ of anything which is not Islamic so we can gauge the reaction. But realistically we know that would be greeted by more than a few people standing and shouting over each other in a “town hall” style meeting.

Sort of like what’s happening in Germany you mean?

There’s a heap ‘o generalization going on there Canuckguy…. and your “Not all muslims are like I describe” don’t quite cover it up.

There’s nothing to cover up. The media are refreshingly factual about who riots and in response to what provocations. Let me know when German Catholics and Protestants start killing each other in riots over alleged slights and encroachments on their turf.
