Oh The “Matters Of Conscience“
A British Columbia priest has decided he’s going to return his Order of Canada because Henry Morgentaler got one and he doesn’t want to be part of the club anymore, it’s “a matter of conscience” says Rev. Lucien Larré – I’m afraid I find his platitudes more than a tad hypocritical.
Rev. Lucien Larre of Coquitlam, who founded the Bosco Centres for emotionally disturbed and addicted adolescents, said he would rather return the honour than be associated with Morgentaler.

How odd….. the man apparently has no trouble being a member in good standing of an organization that gave cover and aid to others of his kind who stuffed the staff of life down little alter boys throats, or bent choir boys over alters, but sharing an award with a recognized woman’s rights activist is a step too far?
Spare me the great personal “struggle” crap and just mail in your certificate Lucien, maybe include a bit of an explanation about your personal struggle over an association with pedophiles, and how you over came it.

Not only that, this guy actually has a criminal record for abusing the children under his care in Saskatchewan.
What a fucking tool.
“Not only that, this guy actually has a criminal record for abusing the children under his care in Saskatchewan.”
What are the criteria for this award?
Why are we so apparently desperate to award this honour?
I remember when the Beatles got their OBEs, and several cranky old stuffed shirts sent their own medals back to Her Majesty with rude notes attached.
When did “service to country” become an exclusive club?
Given the mechanism by which these appointments are made, it’s clear that no amount of “pressure” by the anti-choice set will reverse it. We’re simply witnessing the rage machine throwing a pre-emptive, hysterical tantrum as a warning to future decision makers.
This one has no real legs. I listened to a number of interviews yesterday with recipients – mostly middle aged and older – who expressed their pride at receiving the same honour as Dr. Morgentaler. The screaming and stomping of widdle feets is being emitted by the usual blogger and pundits. It’s reaching a point where more moderate conservative bloggers are appalled – it’s kind of neat to see the chasm between the lunatics and the rest of Canada (and reality) widen.
An interesting note: not one of Canada’s triumvir of leading anti-everything distaff bloggers – Kate, Kathy and Wendy – has criticized the Morgentaler award. Is it just barely conceivable they, unlike their readership, understood that his commitment really was to women?
