Great Company America Is Keeping These Days

What do you say about something like this

Poll: 44% of Americans favor torture for terrorist suspects

A new poll of citizens’ attitudes about torture in 19 nations finds Americans among the most accepting of the practice. Although a slight majority say torture should be universally prohibited, 44 percent think torture of terrorist suspects should be allowed, and more than one in 10 think torture should generally be allowed.

The findings of the WorldPublicOpinion.org poll put the United States alongside countries like Russia, Egypt and the Ukraine and lagging far behind allies like Great Britain, Spain and France in how its citizens view torture.

Speaks for itself doesn’t it?

It’s a scary world we are living in. A new dark age looms, and in the coming years I think we may well see nations rise, fall, and fight over the principles we are supposed to hold dear.

I wonder how many of them would favour torture if it were to involve white kids from Kansas instead of foriegn brown people.

    America is dead.

    America is dead.

No, it’s not. It’s in a persistent vegetative state.

I checked to see if Canada was anywhere on the list and was almost relieved to see it not there. I’m afraid that I know of far too many people on this side of the border who would probably agree with that 44% of their southern brethren who seem to think that becoming like their enemy is the way to defeat them.

A clever sreategy for National Security if you think about – become like “them” and they will cease to hate and attack you.
