Do these people have trouble sleeping at night? Between not voting on the UNDRIP, releasing a Defense spending plan on the last night Parliament is sitting, and mining people’s tax data, do you think they get depressed at the fact they have to lie and or hide about what they are doing?

I’ve just read the story at CBC and am truly flabbergasted. If the Federal Govt can mine Revenue Canada to determine how much it will pay lawyers as part of its negotiation strategy then who else can mine Revenue Canada for our financial information and use that information for what purposes?

Can they like…one day turn around after harvesting the data from the tax returns on say 500 individuals from consulting firms, that regularly contract with the federal government, as a means of determining future contract values…or am I not thinking straight?

I mean…tax returns contain more than just what you earned from one source…because a person invests wisely and shows more on their return they should be paid less? Or what about the person who dedicated their lives to not-for-profit - they should be paid less because what - they’re used to it? I don’t follow the logic.

Is it illogical to think that what you pay a person or contract be based on the value not the wealth status of an individual ?

Is there a clause somewhere on our tax returns that I am unaware of telling me I agree to this? Wouldn’t you or I have to go to Stats Canada for this kind of information?

Not paying the military portion of income tax is apparently something a sitting senator has been doing for years. There is an organization that holds the portion in trust in case the CRA goes after the money.
