Why Can’t I Do That?
It doesn’t matter what you drive parking is always a pain in the city, there’s never enough of it where you want to be, and what you do manage to find is always expensive.
Some have it better than others of course, they get to park anywhere, anytime, and for any reason…. even if it’s for a cup of coffee.
Take this fella with his, ah …. rather distinct, ride. He wanted a cup of coffee [yes, that's a Tim Hortons sign behind the bike] so he simply pulled up on the sidewalk, shut off the bike, put down the kick stand, went in to get his cup of coffee, and, because it’s really hard to drive one of those and drink coffee at the same time, sat down and took a load off.
Now far be it from me to deny a hard working individual a break during the work day for a cup of his favorite coffee (and maybe even a donut although I’m not saying that’s what he had by any means – that would be stereotyping and I wouldn’t do that) – but if I parked my ride like that there would be a hefty ticket waiting on it for me when I got back…. providing, of course, that the city hadn’t called a tow truck to haul it away.
How discriminatory is it that those who compel me to follow regulations and laws that I happen to find inconvenient, restrictive, or (in some cases) down-right useless, get to flaunt them in front of me…. and why are they allowed to do so?
