A good discussion took place on the Neil Boortz show this morning concerning handgun legislation in Georgia that some are urging that state’s governor to veto in the interest of public safety.

Under the bill, Georgians would not be allowed to carry concealed guns to athletic events, churches, political rallies or bars, but they could carry them onto trains and buses and into state parks, historic sites and restaurants that derive at least 50% of their revenue from food sales.

Boortz’s question is simple.

Do people have the right to defend themselves, or those they are responsible for, with deadly force if necessary, or not?

Where do I stand? Well, unlike David Miller, I operate under no particular delusion that a total national handgun ban will do little more than ensure that the only people with handguns will be the criminals.
