The Incredible Disappearing News Story
Not only is there little to no information in the mainstream media regarding the announcement of residential school mass graves, but what little there was is now disappearing.
If you head on over to Another Point of View you’ll see a link to a “cnews Crime” article in the post, you can tell what it’s about based on the Snap Shots pop up.

Don’t bother following the link though, it 404’s now- and there’s nothing in the archives for that date that mentions mass graves.
You can search for the article and see a listing for it

Alas, the link that cnews provides also 404’s and I just can’t help but think that someone was told to disappear the story.
Good job Mentarch uses Snap Shots….. I just may have to take back all the bad things I’ve said about that service in the past.

Holy crap! It’s gone already ?!?
That’s why I hate linking to Canoe news – they are even worse than Yahoo at “disapearing” news items.
Thanks for the heads up (but next time around, if this happens, *please* drop a comment to let me know!)
Now back to trying to find another proper link to this story (well, I *gotta* try, eh?)
(sigh)
Stop the presses!
I used the Google search “mass graves Canada” and found it again! Here it is:
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2008/04/14/5279971-sun.html
(gonna update my own post)
(Doh! I’ve just been to my place and found that you *did* leave a comment to this effect – my apologies and thank you!)
Follow-up: I’ve found the link to the original news story
http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Alberta/2008/04/11/5255061-sun.html
It’s archived now and they want $12 for it. Much of the original was posted here at Stageleft.

Bad enough they’ve been ignoring the story. Now, they’re disappearing it.
I note with some encouragement, the facebook group has swelled to almost 600 members in about 4 or 5 days. There is a letter to editor sample posted there and perhaps a flood of those will at least tweak the editors’ interests.
This media obscurement is typical of the events recounted in Annett’s film. It goes on and on…
Meanwhile, we’re all jumpin’ fer joy with that $330 million the feds say they’re gonna put into clean water on the reserves. What a caring and generous gummint.

It’s funny but not so funny….Many many moons ago when I worked for a Coast Salish Tribal Council I met an anthropologist from SFU who told me that one day WE would be digging up our own remains and need HIM to help identify our ancestors. I secretly scorned this man – why would WE need a white man’s science to tell us who our ancestors are. I never thought I might one day need him to help us identify our children…
Is it possible for you to ’sticky’ your post on the topic?
Unfortunately the “make sticky” plugin only seems to hold posts at the top of the page for a day – I keep looking though
