Fix It, Or Toss It Out
The Lord’s Prayer and it’s fate in the Ontario legislature set off a fresh round of debate Thursday after politicians quietly launched public consultation on whether the province should fall in line with other Canadian jurisdictions and strike the Christian tradition.
If they want to pray that’s fine, do it in a way that includes everyone – and if that can’t be accomplished, don’t do it.

my tax dollars aren’t going to queen’s park to pay for a lot of make believe mumbo-jumbo nonsense. those turnip heads voted themselves a 25% raise, i expect a 25% jump in productivity. they’re law makers. i want laws, lots of laws. damn it all, i expect them to get to work. i ain’t got time for dilly-dallying and our fathering. that ain’t legislating that’s begging and groveling at the feet of a sword and sorcery character. please gandalf, smile at me, you’re so fucking special and impressive. screw the lord’s prayer and suck it jesus, they want to believe in sky monsters, fine, that’s what days off and weekends are for. i know some pretty devout folk, they do their praying in private on their own time. public servants in secular government shouldn’t be starting their day on my dime with prayers, that’s just another way to shirk. make laws, you bastards, lots of damn laws.
Make laws? We got too damn many laws as it is – what’s next, no smoking under trees in public parks? Don’t hold yer cell phone while driving? By impact vests for motorcycle riding? Reflective propellers on roller blade helmets?
They’d be spending their time far more productively by looking at the stupidity currently on the books and getting rid of as much of it as possible.
fine by me stageleft, i’ll be just as happy with them delegislating things. i just wanted to try on the trite-wing bit about my precious tax dollars. really, though, they should just roll up their prayers and hoop them.
Drop it. If you read the bible, Jesus himself said to pray in private, not public.
Drop it and forget about praying in the legislature. If you want to pray, do it under your breathe or attend the religious temple or church of your choice.
At least you’re legislature isn’t spending billions investigating whether over-aged, over-paid adolescents in pro-baseball took steroids. First, how is that the purview of Congress? Second, who cares if they did? Third, who cares if they did? If they want to have balls the size of raisins, let ‘em go for it. The whole Congressional investigation/hearing is nothing more than public posturing and make-work so they look busy.
