In a speech at the National World War I Museum here this morning, McCain gave a relatively optimistic appraisal of the situation in Iraq, saying that the recent reductions in violence have returned the country to something “approaching normal political and economic life for the average Iraqi.”

You had me there, you slyboots. The way your post is written, you almost seemed to be suggesting that there should be some kind of connection between the utterances of a Republican Presidential candidate and what the rest of us refer to as “reality”.
What matters is simply hanging on to the party line long enough to win an election.
