John Bowman over at the CBC’s Blog Watch seems to think that blogs are not moderated or censored - I think he needs to watch a bit better, maybe he should even watch his own blog.
Blogs aren’t moderated or censored. There’s no House of Commons Speaker standing and muttering for order.

I was gonna say that Mr Speaker Bowman must like me, but since he hasn’t let my last comment from yesterday through that may not be the case any more Pale……. I wounded, truly I am.
I wonder if the rest of the CBC is like him? Whether it doesn’t seem to care about being in touch with its audiences? I know that’s a huge over-simplification, since the CBC is a huge organization with various networks, programs, personalities. Still…
I browse the Guardian (UK) blogs quite a bit and am fascinated by how articulate they are in exploring the emergence of blogs and bloggers, and how they’re changing journalism - and how the Guardian is changing as well. But here, at the CBC, and most other journalism organizations, they seem to want to divert their collective gazes and pretend that so much of this, how people are using the Internet including blogs, is irrelevant.
That statement by Bowman is ludicrous, but more because it seems to be an example of this apparent disdain than for the obvious contradictions.
I believe I have to amend my comment. Bowman’s blog is someone connected to reporters in the newsrooms. I suspect the current affairs folks are more in tune than the by-the-book, hardcore news people.
Meh. It’s just one of those “Oh, My God, I Need A Fashionable Topic In A Hurry” pieces. There’s no insight and bloody little understanding in it at all. Not to get excited, it’s the middlebrow equivalent of a thoughtful Canwest weekend piece on “Britney - What Next”?

That’s why moderated blogs suck, they kill the real-time conversation potential of a blog.
