Now You Know Why He Has His Own Bunker
Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, The Bunker:
“…going to be heading up to Rankin Inlet tomorrow for the hockey tournament, should be a good visit. Going to give Bert a hand with some rewiring. Keep an eye on things, would you? Cheers, Stageleft.”
Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, CBC Northern Service:
The Nunavut hamlet of Rankin Inlet remained in a state of emergency Thursday after three of the community’s four diesel electricity generators failed. All schools, Nunavut government offices and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. offices are closed Thursday and only emergency services are running.
The community health centre remains open on an emergency basis and is operating with an independent power supply. Residents in the hamlet of 2,350 have been going through rotating blackouts since Wednesday night as a result of the unexplained failure at the local power plant.

Did I hear somebody say “oops!” before the lights went out?
Hope everybody is all right.
I hope he knows how to build an igloo
Oi! He’s doing all right? Yes?
I’m sure he is. Probably built his own generator out of toothpicks, paperclips and snot.
Rankin Inlet (home sweet home) is also the place where they had a 1.5 week long blizzard last month, and they were running out of food at the grocery stores.
Thanks. I’m going up next week. Maybe.
