If You Love Her, Buy Her A Gun

If you love her, protect her is the new advertising campaign from Taser International.

The company is advertising Tasers for women as the perfect Valentines Day gift.

Taser International created stylized models hoping the style-conscious woman will be the safety-conscious woman, too.

I can hardly wait to see the TV commercials!! May we suggest that great Canadian band Furnaceface do the soundtrack.

I’m surprised those are legal for the general public. What is the status of usage in Canada? Anyone know?

  2. Chimera on February 8th, 2008 at 4:19 pm

As far as I know, they aren’t legal for civilian use in Canada, but they are legal in most states. Like handguns, except I don’t think you have to have a special permit for them.

And it’s interesting that SL is using the post title in a snarky way, but I have friends in the States who do just that — buy each other weapons for their important anniversaries. They’ve done that for the past fourteen years, and they have quite a collection of firearms. And she’s a better shot than he is — a competitor on a national level.

I used that title because it’s the title of the Furnaceface song that came immediately to mind when I saw the article Chimera.

The post has already sparked a ‘wee email debate with bunker regular Throbbin over whether or not handgun/taser ownership should be legal or banned – guess which side the anarchist in me is supporting :-)

Ah…that’s what I get for not listening to the video, I guess. I’m not familiar with Furnaceface (that’s a Canadian band? Really? Guess who hates the CRTC’s Canajan Content regulations!)

I wonder how some people would react to the ads for the AR-15 in Hello Kitty pink?

Tasers are for wussies. There’s nothing hotter than a chick with real fire power.

    Nasty,

Ann Coulter? Ga! She’d mate with you, bite you head off and then lay her eggs in your corpse. No thanks.

Now you could have easily posted a link to Selma Hayek with a gun..much better.

    Just sayin’.

    Mike,

    It’s a sickness…I feel shame.

Chimera – “I have friends in the States who do just that — buy each other weapons for their important anniversaries”

My ex used to do that once in awhile. One year he bought me a 9mm Beretta (”15 in the clip and one in the pipe”) for Christmas. It fit perfectly into my Christmas stocking.

I am not going to provide a link, but Shaidle has been posting a wistful series of pink weapons on her site. Sighing over long, cylindrical pink things that shoot…I wonder how that new relationship of hers is working out.
