Earth To Romney…
“”If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win,” Romney told the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. “And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.”
I don’t think of myself as anti-American, regardless of what some denizens of the moronosphere think. But unless 95% of the US populace burst into spontaneous, incredulous guffaws at this piece of hysterical, histrionic hyperbole, and unless every media outlet laughs this demagogue off the stage, I’m going to have serious doubts about their collective sanity.
Four years ago, or whenever, when Anne Coulter equated “liberal” with “traitor”, I thought she was kidding -just another headline-grabbing squeal from a pundit who couldn’t decide whether she wanted to be Phyllis Diller or Jerry Springer. But now we have a man who, until today, was a serious contender for the presidency of a country with nukes (NUKES!) declaring, apparently with a straight face, that to vote against his party was a “surrender to terror”.
Put more simply, roughly half of all American voters (the ones who elected the last Congress) are abetting terrorism.
So there are two possibilities. One of the most powerful politicians in the US is insane, or half the population of the US are traitors. Bad news either way for Canada.
Seriously, though - with statements that stupid on the table, how on earth can we trust these people with missiles and atomic reactors and Hollywood and the space shuttle? Vinnie, time to leave. You can sleep in the Bunker Guest Room until you get a place of your own.

Shorter Willard: “A victory for teh Defeatocrats is a victory for Bin Laden!”
Er, actually, that’s closer to a direct quote:
Even though we face an uphill fight, I know that many…
You know the other thing you don’t do in time of war? Give massive tax cuts along with increased spending.
But I guess that whole ‘in time of war’ thing is only convenient when it works for you eh?
What a jackass.
I wonder if this means, in this time of war, that his son’s are now available to serve their country in Iraq, now that the campaign is over?
I thought not either…
Meh…
If Americans believed him he wouldn’t be dropping out of the race.
Forget all this war hysteria. Romney’s WOT screed was his parting shot at Mike Huckabee.
I love that McCain is their nominee (or will be shortly). It’s a sign of the times when the GOP electorate elects the most moderate candidate (with the exception of his foreign-policy).
The “Reagan Coalition” is crumbling - that has to be a good thing for Canada and the world.
