rootleweb “The Decider”

Oh how wonderful is a qualifier like “On this matter……”, especially when you are muttering about someone else — and better still if that someone is a Muslim.

The relevant part of the post reads

Muslims Against Sharia

This interesting site was posted in a comment with regards to the Levant situation. Clearly, some Muslims desire reform. They do not hold to the beliefs espoused by Islamists and they do not feel that the current situation between Islam and the West is either acceptable or the sole fault of the West.
Initiatives like this are important. While I don’t believe that attempts to reform the Koran will ever be successful, I do think that it is important for moderate Muslims to speak out. Not every Muslim is an extremist. Not every Muslim wants to conquer the world and rid it of infidels. On this matter, silence is acceptance. If one does not speak out, then that silence must be construed as agreement. If one does not speak out against an aggressor, conquest is inevitable. Those who oppose sharia must voice their concerns. This is what free speech is all about.

(emphasis mine)

Muslims Against Sharia? balbulican has already done pretty good job exposing that bunch for what they are.

Now lets have a look at rootleweb

“Not every Muslim is an extremist.” Yup, ya gotta say that, otherwise people might get the idea that your racist.

“Not every Muslim wants to conquer the world and rid it of infidels.” Yup, see above.

If one does not speak out, then that silence must be construed as agreement.” All of then ‘eh? There’s the money shot….. Islamophobia has reared it’s head, and we now know a whole lot about the author.

I could be wrong, I admit that’s possible, let’s test it out on say Americans and the torture and abuse that took place in Abu Ghraib.

Not every American is a torturer or an abuser. Not every American wants prisoners to be tortured or abused. On this matter however, silence is acceptance. If Americans do not speak out, then that silence must be construed as agreement with the practice of torture and abuse.

Is that a reasonable test – true or false?

Let’s have another go at it and use religion this time.

Not every Christian is a Fred Phelps Christian extremist who thinks that god hates fags, or that god hates America. Not every Christian protests military funerals and thanks god for 9/11. But on this matter, silence is acceptance. If Christians do not speak out, then that silence must be construed as agreement with Fred Phelps.

Is that a reasonable test – true or false?

How about chocolate?

Not every member of western society eats chocolate tied to the chocolate slave industry. Not every member of western society wants to enjoy cheap chocolate at the expense of poverty stricken people in third world and developing countries. On this matter silence is acceptance. If members of western society do not speak out, that silence must be construed as agreement with chocolate industry practices.

Is that a reasonable test – true or false?

Or are these unreasonable tests that no people, no follower of any religion, and no member of western society, could ever pass?

— but somehow Islam is the exception, and each and every Muslim who does not agree with what the extremists are doing and who is not found standing on the street corners, writting letters to the editor, organizing or attending anti-extremist rallies, or writing in their personal blog, decrying the extremists is really a secret extremist themselves, accepts what is being done by the extremists, and has no one to blame but themselves for being lumped in with them?

Hey rootleweb ….. do you eat chocolate bars?
