I’m going to the hockey game tonight (Ottawa -vs- New York Islanders), friend crow won two tickets to the game but since he doesn’t like hockey he gave them to his son who asked me to go to the game with him - really good seats to, 11 rows back from ice level…. and I’m some glad we didn’t have to pay for those seats.
$160.00 each, plus tax and various other facility fees, how do people afford that sort of thing?
If ya shop right each of those seats is at least a weeks worth of groceries for a small family, and between the two of them that’s over 60% my annual motorcycle insurance costs for the year, or two full months worth of my high speed Internet plus digital cable plus cell phone charges….. hell, add one more ticket into the group and you could buy a reasonable decent computer or nice flat panel TV for your house.
I’m definately gonna enjoy the game, but that sort of cost is exactly why my team is the Ottawa 67’s and not the Ottawa Senators.
A 67’s game is $10.00, and for that sort of money you can sit right on the glass and watch just as good a hockey game and meet the players to boot - they, unlike the multimillion dollar NHL guys, are still willing to meet and say hello to the unwashed masses, as well as give a kid an autograph on just about whatever there is to be signed.
