Meet Ezra’s New Non-Muslim “Muslim” Friends!
The Ezraphile division of the moronosphere is ecstatic this morning. It appears that our self-proclaimed Free Speech Martyr has won a sympathetic ear from an organization calling itself “Muslims Against Sharia” – proof positive that REAL Muslims aren’t offended by Ezra’s attempt to spin hate into gold.
Well, you know me. Cynic that I am, I just had to check out these “Muslims Against Sharia”. Marsilio over at “The Politic” thinks they’re “fine folks”. Well. Let’s dig, shall we?
The first thing you find is their website. A few odd things strike you right away.
- The site exists in three versions – English, Swedish, and Russian. Hmm. No Arabic. No Urdu. No Punjabi. No Pashto, Persian, Uzbec, Turkmen, Malay…in other words, none of the languages spoken by the vast majority of the world’s Muslims. But this is a group that claims to be an international Islamic reform movement. Odd.
- The site’s blogger profile says that “Muslims Against Sharia” is from Afghanistan. Hmm. Lots of Swedish speakers in Afghanstan, are there? But wait…hey, that’s weird. the contact information on the site is a post office box in Omaha, Nebraska, that well known centre of Muslim culture and history.
- Curiously, the site contains absolutely NO membership or governance information at all. No indication of who created this organization, who its members are, who manages it, who governs it, who sets its policies and direction…nothing. Sort of odd for a non-profit advocacy group – especially one that’s fundraising.
- There is, however, a page that allows you to donate by Paypal, Mastercard, Visa, or Amex to “help fight Islamofascists”. And that page lists the donors. The first “donor” on the list, if you google it, turns out to be the Executive Director of the organization. The second “donor”, turns out to be a member of the organization who seems to spend most of his time posting anti-Muslim taunts on various blogs. At that point I stopped googling “donors”. Feel free to continue down the list – I’d be curious. There aren’t many of them.
Back to the home page, where the organization’s “Manifesto” is set out. And here again, one is struck by the uncanny similarity between the agenda of this allegedly “Muslim” group, and that of American and European neo-nazi sites that claim to support “moderate” Muslims while actually trashing anything Islamic.
Among the elements of this “Muslim” “Manifesto” are such popular right wing talking points as “the Crusades were not unprovoked acts of aggression, but rather attempts to recapture formerly Christian lands controlled by Muslims”, and “We must remove evil passages from Islamic religious texts, so that future generations of Muslims will not be confused by conflicting messages.”
Which leads to the next fascinating section of the site. “Muslims Against Sharia” has gone through the Koran and removed every verse that they don’t believe came from Allah, and propose to publish this New Koran, with donations from their readership. What a great idea. I thought translating the Bible into Lolcatz was a bit silly, but I could get behind an initiative to go through the Holy Book and remove all those references to stoning, slaughtering and enslaving enemies of Israel, sexual misconduct on the part of the Biblical elders, God’s murder of the children who taunted Ezekiel…all that stuff that we’ve left behind.
Sorry. Silly digression. But I can’t really imagine any Christian, Muslim, or Jew launching an anonymous, web-based edit job to bowdlerize their own sacred texts, and expecting to be taken seriously by anyone. So…WHO are these people?
One gets a bit closer to the heart of “Muslims Against Sharia” by perusing their “blog”.
The first item in the “blog”, “Top Ten Central Ohio Terrorism-Related Stories of 2007″ is sourced to the “Intelligence Summit”, a project of the International Holocaust Education Centre founded by John Loftus. For those who don’t know John Loftus, he’s an extreme former Fox News commentator fired for broadcasting the address of a “terrorist suspect” who had long since moved, resulting in the harrasment and vandalism of the building’s current occupants. The Summit’s Advisory Council includes Americal military, a former senior FBI official, a former senior Mossad officer, and the former Chair of British Joint Intelligence Committee. Also included are several members of the Iran Policy Committee. Hmm.
The next item in the “blog” is a press release from Joe Kaufman, of “Americans Against Hate”. You remember them? Founded by a Republican media specialist, they sponsored the nauseating “Gore-Sharpton” ads that Bill O’Reilly condemned.
Then comes the Ezra Levant Saga, posted by “Louise” of “Puddle Jumping Redneck”.
If you dig deeper into the “blog”, you’ll find lavish praise for Ann Coulter and George Bush, articles by a lot of Fox pundits like Bill Gertz, extensive condemnation of Islam in ALL its forms, of Democrats, and of every Muslim country on the planet. In an hour of searching, I didn’t find a single entry…not one…that said anything positive about Muslims. I did find this entry, which actually argues that “moderate Muslims” pose a greater threat to mankind that Jihadists. What a strange argument for a site called “Muslims Against Sharia” to make.
In fact, the articles posted on the blog are once again completely indistinguishable from the sort of URQ Muslim-hatred one expects from the likes of Shaidle, McMillan, Sentinel, and the emerging neo-Nazis.
So…who EXACTLY are Ezra’s new little friends, these “Muslims Against Sharia”? We’ve figured out that they really like Republicans, don’t like Democrats, are single handedly rewriting the Koran, seem to rely on an awful lot of extreme right wing sources for their blog content, and don’t really seem to have much actual Muslim input at all. It’s hard to tell, of course, because, as noted above, they carefully give us NO governance, Board, management, corporate or membership information whatsoever.
Going to the blogger profile, however, one discovers a list of the folks who contribute to “Muslims Against Sharia”. They include:
- “The Admiral”, male, from Minnesota, born in Winnipeg and grew up in Fargo. Also posts to an extreme right wing site, which brags “The Anti-Strib is written by a known “racist” that was voted the 5th worse person in MN politics 2007. The blog is generally despised by the moonbats at Drinking Liberally and has just recently been banned in China. Read at your own risk!?”
- “Atlas Shrugs“, (Pamela Geller), an extreme right wing blogger with a hate on for Islam that rivals Shaidle’s
- Ted Belman of Israpundit, whose masthead features two Israeli flags, and proclaims “THERE IS NO DIPLOMATIC SOLUTION: THERE IS ONLY A MILITARY SOLUTION.”
Well, well, well. So these are the “Muslims Against Sharia”.
The world evidently contains readers so stupid that they actually believed Ezra’s theatrics and marketing were about more than trying to save a dying magazine by selling hate. Maybe those folks will believe that “Muslims Against Sharia” is anything more than an exceptionally cheap, poorly organized propaganda site for the peddling the same old hatred in a new and exceptionally deceitful package.

Yeeh, and another thing, the profile of the MAS blogger also links to this blog
http://lakeminnetonkaliberty.blogspot.com/
…which is all about Republican politics.
Just a coincidence, I’m sure. It’s kind of heartening to know that all these Republican and extreme right wing bloggers and pundits are secretly Muslim.
Normally we do not reply in length to articles about us, but the author of this item must have put a lot of time into his piece, so the least we can do is to write a response.
Let us, if we may, point out a few factual errors and omissions in this article.
1. “The site’s blogger profile says that “Muslims Against Sharia” is from Afghanistan.”
One of 5 MASH members profiles actually does read Afghanistan. Initially, the default setting of Afghanistan was not changed to the USA, but then we left it as it were to allow “honest critics” to make fools of themselves. It is not surprising that the author did not mention the other four profiles.
2. “Curiously, the site contains absolutely NO membership or governance information at all.”
If the author had any brains, he/she could have realized that there are security issues involved. But an ideologue having brains, that’s a little too much to hope for, isn’t it?
3. “The first “donor” on the list, if you google it, turns out to be the Executive Director of the organization.”
That’s a great piece of information, except for MASH does not have an Executive Director.
4. “The second “donor”, turns out to be a member of the organization who seems to spend most of his time posting anti-Muslim taunts on various blogs.”
Anti-Muslim taunts, that’s interesting. We actually do post taunts, mostly to provoke responses, but judging by the responses we provoke http://www.reformislam.org/quotes.php, red (bottom) section, our taunts are hardly anti-Muslim. And if we do get into an argument with Islamofascist on a rare occasion, we promptly get blocked.
5 “And here again, one is struck by the uncanny similarity between the agenda of this allegedly “Muslim” group, and that of American and European neo-nazi sites that claim to support “moderate” Muslims while actually trashing anything Islamic.”
Our motto, which is posted on the top of every page of our website is that Islam is Peace, Love, and Light. Our logo contains a crescent and a peace sign. For the author to omit those items is at the very least disingenuous, but expecting integrity from a degenerate demagogue is quite unreasonable, so we won’t focus on that.
6 “Among the elements of this “Muslim” “Manifesto” are such popular right wing talking points as “the Crusades were not unprovoked acts of aggression, but rather attempts to recapture formerly Christian lands controlled by Muslims”, and “We must remove evil passages from Islamic religious texts, so that future generations of Muslims will not be confused by conflicting messages.””
Just because the author does not like the history of the Crusades, it does not change historical facts. As for removing evil passages from Islamic religious texts, it is our original idea. Granted, someone could possibly come up with the same idea before, but we are not aware of it. But the demagoguery of the author attributes any ideas that that he/she opposes to the other side of the political spectrum.
7 “For those who don’t know John Loftus, he’s an extreme former Fox News commentator”
The author seems to know a hell of a lot about that damn extremist Loftus. Then why does he/she fail to mention that Loftus is a life-long Democrat? Or is it just Lotus’ nefarious plan to deceive Democrats? Just as non-Muslims Against Sharia have a nefarious plan to deceive Muslims?
8 “The next item in the “blog” is a press release from Joe Kaufman, of “Americans Against Hate”. You remember them? Founded by a Republican media specialist, they sponsored the nauseating “Gore-Sharpton” ads that Bill O’Reilly condemned.”
That sounded interesting and we contacted Joe Kaufman about the supposed ads. He was not aware of them. So this is another item the author just made up. Must be running out of one-sided facts.
9 “If you dig deeper into the “blog”, you’ll find … extensive condemnation of Islam in ALL its forms, of Democrats, and of every Muslim country on the planet. In an hour of searching, I didn’t find a single entry…not one…that said anything positive about Muslims.”
Let’s dig deeper, shall we? The author must be referring to the following articles that defame Muslims and Democrats: “Islam is O.K. The Imam’s are NOT!”, “Muslim hero breaks up train beating,” or “Armenian Genocide Bill” that states “Muslims Against Sharia commend House Democrats and Speaker Pelosi,” just to name a few. And if the author missed all those articles, there is a list of prominent moderate Muslims in the upper right corner of every page on our blog. But we must have placed them there just to denigrate them, right? But if that were true, why would we publish their articles on our blog?
10 “I did find this entry, which actually argues that “moderate Muslims” pose a greater threat to mankind that Jihadists.”
If the author found that entry (which was clearly posted for discussion purposes and not to imply that moderate Muslims are a threat), why not mention that it was accompanied by a MASH comment “For the record, the author does not understand what “moderate Muslim” means.”?
11 “In fact, the articles posted on the blog are once again completely indistinguishable from the sort of URQ Muslim-hatred one expects from the likes of Shaidle, McMillan, Sentinel, and the emerging neo-Nazis.”
Would “Islamonazi’s Prayer for Stormfront” be one of those articles?
12 The author goes on to list some of the non-Muslim blog contributors, claiming, “So these are the “Muslims Against Sharia”” The author’s ideology prevents him/her from making a distinction between a blog contributor and a member of Muslims Against Sharia. Just as it prevents him from making a distinction between moderate Muslims and Islamofascists. But it comes as no surprise because this tactic is widely employed by degenerate demagogues, whether they are Islamofascists, left-wing Dhimmis, or right-wing nutjobs.
In case the author realizes that our reply made him look like an idiot, which demagogues usually are, and changes the contents of the article, we took screenshots.
Holy crap! NICE WORK, there, Brother.
The money quote:
“I did find this entry, which actually argues that “moderate Muslims” pose a greater threat to mankind that Jihadists. What a strange argument for a site called “Muslims Against Sharia” to make.”
I wish I had time these days to do a nice piece of research like that.
Well, shoot. Now you’ve got me going. The author of the “moderate Islam is bad too” piece was someone who describes himself as a non-Muslim:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2006/07/dear_muslims_what_is_it_that_y.html
These guys sound like a “Muslim” version of Jews for Jesus.
…without the intellectual rigor or integrity. Heh.
You guys serve as a real life parody of the Left. Ad hominem attacks. Guilt by association (although, in this case, that’s really a stretch). Selective defense of political censorship. Complete avoidance of the objective issues at stake. Bravo!
Oh, goody. A response. We hit a nerve.
Well, dear friend, that’s certainly easy to clear up. You’re asking your readers to send you money to combat ” Islamosfascists.” Prove me wrong. Who is your governing body? Who’s calling your shots? What Muslim clerics are participating in your little “Rewrite the Koran by Blog” project? Oh, right…you can’t tell us that. Security issues. Of course. Just send money.
Uh huh.
No worries. I’m afraid your selective, attempted fisk hasn’t done much for your credibility. Nice try, though. Thanks for playing.
Mike, I’m not sure you can do an “ad hominem” attack against an organization. I think it would have to be an “ad organizitionem” attack, or something. Any latin scholars out there in the house?
And as for the “objective issue at stake”…well, as the guy who started the thread, I’m the one who gets to pick what the thread is about. And this one’s about “Websites Pretending to Be Muslim.”
One further comment for our friends at “Muslims Against Sharia”… the one person you specifically reference contacting in response to my article was Joe Kaufman of CAIR
Watch, to whom you evidently have rapid access.
Tactically, it would probably have been smarter optics to produce some rebuttals from Muslim scholars or clerics (you are, after all, pretending to be a Muslim organization, right?) than Joe.
Just a suggestion.
Seeing Pam from Atlas Shrugged was all the confirmation I needed that this was a fake organization.
But nicely done, balb,
Muslims Against Sharia, by the content of their own site is:
1) Not Muslim
2) an astroturf and misinformation site, trying to discredit Islam by publishing the hate-filled work of a lot of right wing non-Muslims
They are, therefore, liars, dishonest and should be treated accordingly.
In short, MAS, you are busted. Give it up.
“Actually, the “Blogger Profile” named “Muslims Against Sharia” cites “Afghanistan”. Would you like a screen shot?”
Are you trying to pretend to be dumber than you are? There is more than one profile named “Muslims Against Sharia”
“Actually, the author has quite the usual complement of brains, thanks”
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
“Perhaps you could refer us to some of the other sections of your site that celebrate Islam, its history, achievements and beauty?”
You are a moron! Our mission is to reform Islam to keep our rich cultural heritage and to cleanse our religion from the reviled relics of the past. When a patient visits a doctor about a broken leg, how often does he get complimented on what a great shape his heart in?
“The author is probably as familiar with the history of the Crusades as your former Fox affiliates”
So, according to you, most of the Middle East and North Africa were not predominantly Christian for hundreds of years before Islam appeared? Interesting.
“I’m really not sure you realize just how absurd an idea that is. But I suggest you try applying that notion to the sanitizing of the old Testament – that may give you some idea of how offensive your project is.”
Can you employ a less idiotic tactic than pointing to someone else’s deficiencies? And if you’re so great at research as you claim to be, you can find that we addressed this issue on several occasions.
“I’m afraid you sort of ducked all that stuff surrounding Loftus’ dismissal.”
A moron like you taking about facts? Shouldn’t you learn the facts before talking about them? Loftus was dismissed by Fox (that needed legal protection) because he used incorrect information. However, the information that he used was form current (at the time) FBI records. Blaming Loftus for faulty FBI records must make a lot of sense for dumbasses like you. Do some research, the information is available.
“May I suggest you investigate “Americans Against Hate” at Sourcewatch?”
Left-wing website lies about right-wing website? Oh, no, say it ain’t so. You’re not talking about the same Sourcewatch that claimed that Terror-Free Oil is owned by some porn king?
“are those prominent Muslims members of your organization?”
We cannot answer these questions for security reasons
“Do they endorse the rewriting of the Koran?”
You’re free to ask them yourself.
“I provided a link to the article and its comments – I trust readers to draw their own conclusions about your intent.”
Isn’t it slightly disingenuous to mention only the part that fits your agenda and omit the part that does not?
“Would you like me to provide a list or articles that were?”
You claim that “the articles posted on the blog are once again completely indistinguishable” from Neo-Nazi-type propaganda, which is lie, and then you want me to prove your lie?
“Prove me wrong.”
If I had as much free time on my hands as you do, that would be the first thing on my list. Well, maybe the second. Right after I’d be done with something even more useless.
“Who is your governing body? Who’s calling your shots?”
Which part of none of you business is confusing to you? People who need to know, know it.
“the one person you specifically reference contacting in response to my article was Joe Kaufman of CAIR Watch, to whom you evidently have rapid access.”
Unlike losers like you, we have rapid access to many important people. You probably wouldn’t even be able to get an appointment with your own congressman.
[...] responds in kind Normally we do not reply in length to articles about us, but the author of this item must have put a lot of time into his piece, so the least we can do is to write a response. … [...]
Nice work, balbulican. I wouldn’t be surprised if further investigation connected these frauds to one of the white supremist organizations too.
No comment necessary, MAS speaks volumes for itself in one simply line “People who need to know, know it.”.
I thought we talked about keeping secrets, just when did you get a congressman balbulican?
Robert McClelland,
You seem to be too stupid to be able to read, so here’s a link:
http://muslimsagainstsharia.blogspot.com/2008/01/islamonazis-prayer-for-stormfront.html
I love it when degenerates like McClelland or balbulican lecture about tolerance, but it shows how full of shit they are when they refuse to accept anything that does not fit their demented stereotypes.
Hey! I want a congressman too! Pass the congressmen, please.
Dear “Muslims Against Sharia”:
First of all, thanks for the link. We haven’t seen a spike in our readership, for which I’m relieved…I guess you don’t get much traffic. That’s good.
One friendly, general comment before we get to the specifics.
Don’t forget your cover. You’re supposed to be pretending to be a dignified, serious not-for-profit organization of committed Muslim arguing for spiritual reformation. If you want to maintain that facade (you’ve blown it here, but if you’re going to keep the fraud going, you might have to in other fora), I’d suggest you really try to sound that way, instead of responding like what you actually are…a garden variety neo-con troll.
Yeah, see, that’s the kind of thing I’m talking about. You want to fake a more dignified, thoughtful stance, not sound like Little Green Footballs. That’s interesting about the multiple profiles: I’ll check them out and see how many other virulent anti-Muslim and neocon bloggers your “Muslim” organization actually features. Thanks for the heads up.
Oh, dear, oh dear. More quiet dignity, less LGF. Work on that.
On the “moron” thing…see above. On the substantive point…you need to remember that you’re pretending to be an ADVOCACY group FOR a renewed Islam. What you actually are, as we both know, is pure neocon propaganda.
Here’s a test, just for fun. I invite our readers to read the first thirty posts on the MAS site. Find one post extolling any aspect of Islam. I’ll wait. Oh, you’re back. How did you make out?
Gosh, it seems to me that you’re putting a fair amount of energy in pointing out my deficiencies – is it less idiotic when you do it?
But seriously…or as seriously as you merit…astute readers will observe that the above is, as a lawyer would say – non-responsive. Not surprisingly, it ducks the core imbecility at the heart of this fake bunch – the notion that a Koran bowdlerized by unknown bloggers will be anything other than offensive, just as a Bible edited by bloggers to remove anything that offended them would be an outrage to Christians.
“Moron”, “dumbass”…heh. I tell you, guys, you’re sounding more and more like what you really are with every sentence. Dignity, remember. Always dignity.
Just to remind folks…Loftus was fired because he broadcast the address of a supposed terrorist, who had actually moved away years before. The family in the house he incorrectly fingered was subject to harrasment and vandalism. Pretty lousy journalism when even Fox fires you, wouldn’t you say?
The astute Stageleft readership will of course note that our faux-Muslim friends have once again ducked the issue . Let me put it to you directly, then:
- Is Joe Kaufman associated with Americans Against Hate?
- Was Americans Against Hate founded by Republican consultant and media specialist Stephen Marks?
- Did Americans Against Hate run ads trying to link Al Gore to Al Sharpton, which, according to Time Magazine, ran as follows: ‘: “Sharpton, says the announcer, admires Hitler (flash to photo of the dictator) and defends rapists and cop killers (video of Willie Horton-style mug shots). The ad asks, ‘Mr. Gore…what kind of unholy alliance will you have with Al Sharpton?’”
No, of course not. You pointed to them in your previous response to “prove” your authenticity, but you can’t really say whether or not they have any connection at all with your organization. Gosh, that really establishes your credibility.
Yup, really credible.
Nope. Disingenuous would be quoting without links. Most of our readership here actually reads.
Heh. I don’t expect you to “do” anything except throw up more smoke. And you’re being most obliging.
No, no, no. Now see, that sounds just like a peevish political blogger on the ropes. Try for gravitas, solemnity, a hint of “more in sorrow than in anger”, with just a dash of subdued spirituality. Not adolescent pique. Wrong voice entirely for a group called “Muslims Against Sharia”.
Yup, that sure establishes you as a bona fide organization. Heh. I’m frankly relieved…I though you guys would actaully be better at keeping up the false front than this. I don’t think there’s much danger of too many people being hoodwinked.
You’re probably right. We don’t have congressmen up here. (Clearly we’re dealing with a pretty sophisticated international organization here.)
So to summarize:
- We’ve agreed that your contributors include neocons, fired Fox broadcasters, right wing American pundits, pro-Israel anti Muslim bloggers; but you decline to identify any actual Muslim clerics or leaders associated with your “organization”.
- You print a long list of prominent Muslims on your site to suggest respectability, but refuse to say whether they actually have anything to do with your organization.
- You solicit online for public donations, but will provide NO information on your corporate structure, governance, membership, or management. Except that your lead “donor” appears to be your own president. (By the way, do you provide financial statements to your donors? And how does one actually JOIN your organization – do you provide financial statements and corporate information to your membership?)
- The overwhelming preponderance of articles on your site appear to revile Islam and the Islamic countries.
- You’re preparing a revised Koran, a document most Muslims feel is the word of Allah, that excises pieces that your online readership thinks should be cut out.
- And finally- you pretend to be a Muslim organization committed to spiritual renewal, but your tone, substance and vocabulary are that of a teenage neocon troll.
Case closed. Not even close. And Ezra deserves you.
MAS, your credibility will only wane with each insult. You have to admit, it’s a little strange your blog is only in English, Swedish and Russian when the word of Allah was revealed [and remains] in Arabic.
“You seem to be too stupid to be able to read, so here’s a link…
I love it when degenerates like McClelland or balbulican lecture about tolerance, but it shows how full of shit they are…”
Oh, dear, oh dear. You’re losin’ it, big time. Dignity, Muslims Against Sharia…always dignity.
No, but seriously…ARE you actually LGF?
Priceless Balb, priceless!
It takes a truly twisted individual or group of individuals to pretend to be one thing in order to legitimize their attacks on the very people they are claming to be.
And of course EVERYONE know that the vast majority of “moderate muslims” really, really wish the Koran was scrubbed and printed in Swedish, but are afraid to demand this publicly for fear of retribution from the islamofascists. I thought it was common knowledge.
And btw – for security reasons this message will self-destruct in 10 seconds.
Throbbin, I think you should join the organization. You’re a moderate guy, and you’ve spoken to me many times about your desire to see reform occur within Islam. Why don’t you approach them about membership?
That’s a good point Balb – I’ve always felt that the Islamic Clerics stood in the way of good moderate Muslims being able to celebrate Christmas and the birth of Christ.
And why can’t moderate muslims celebrate the death and subsequent return of Christ with chocolate rabbits at Easter time?
I think I just might try to sign up – I feel it is my responsibility to try to improve the Koran and the lives of people who follow it.
Good morning, balbulican.
When I saw the long rebuttal by MAS, I was correct to think, “man, I’m tired just thinkin’ ’bout the work required to answer all of the stupidity enclosed. Sure enough, more of their neutron star density stupid/dishonest was forthcoming. Hopefully you’re stocked up on those energy drinks…I sense a disruption in the background wingnuttery, perhaps scrambling to find a congressman. I suggest they look in the Republican listings and just call any of them.
Mmmmm…congressmen. Please pass the salt.
I had meant to compliment you on the fine photoshop above. Not to mention your artful demolition of the rapidly-degenerating MAS. Could this be Anon*logue redux?
Thank you most kindly. Although I have to say I was particularly proud of my “Ezra As St. Sebastian” the other day. Of course, we all kneel and worship at the feet of the Great Wingnuterer.
My stars Balb, you’ve gotten under MAS’s skin. And I guess so have I. He’s been dropping little turds around the blogsphere and when I let people know about the fraud, he (or she) gets quite irate.
I think you and I were referred to as “morons” on my site and over at Jay Jardine’s.
Such strange behaviour for a reformist religious organization which publish in many languages except for languages that Muslim’s speak.
Means you are doing the right thing as far as I can tell.
Keep it up!
FYI, we received comments from this group as well recently, as well as some very contradictory statements that lead us to assume that there are forgeries involved. See: http://lawiscool.com/2008/01/12/ezra-levant-under-government-interrogation/
Spread the word, folks, spread the word. Chop off one hydra’s head and another springs up, but the only decent thing to do is keep chopping.
LawIsCool (by the way, GREAT article on Ezra), is there no obligation for a US based group fundraising online to disclose governance or membership information?
[...] Muslims Against Sharia? balbulican has already done pretty good job exposing that bunch for what they are. [...]
Imagine that, we’re media!! Does this mean we can sit in the press gallery?
I’m a little late to the party but thanks for this. These idiots turned up in my comments last night and it was nice to know in advance who they are.
Our pleasure, guys. Do you what you can to spread the word.
I heard this outfit referred to the other day in connection with “The Ezra Levant Free Speech Martyrdom Show” and it smelled more than a little fishy, but I never bothered to actually verify my initial suspicions. You’ve certainly done a nice job of confirming what seemed reasonably apparent.
It’s difficult to understand what purpose is being served by this mendacious deception given that it effectively undermines the position of authentic “moderates” that the wingnuts are always castigating for their stubborn refusal to actively insert themselves into the imagined “clash of civilizations” that various extremist religious and political ideologues have dreamt up to frame their respective crackpot insanities.
I think it’s just a continuation of the mindset that sustains sites like the Scentinel, the Centre for Vigilant Freedom, and all that stuff…with the faux-credibility of its mock-Muslim facade. But when you scratch the surface, you get an eruption that is absolutely indistinguishable from the LGF-type troll.
Plus, of course, their “Let’s Take The Koran Apart And Publish The Version WE Like” initiative is going to inflame Muslims of every stripe, which is, of course, part of the game.
It might be somewhat amusing if the issues involved weren’t so serious. As it is, this malicious sort of jackassery is really out of place.
I hope you don’t mind, RT, but everyone should check out your wonderful picture of the Muslims Against Sharia.
“Tomorrow belongs…to…meee…”
I don’t mind in the least. I’d love to see these despicable miscreants taken out to the woodshed and then mercilessly shamed in public.
Yeah, me too. Any ideas?
Discovering the identities of the perpetrators behind this fraud would be step one. Confronting them directly would be step two. Then taking those findings to anyone in the media who cared to pick up the story would be the eventual outcome. Simply arresting this malicous deception in its tracks would also be a good outcome, but the story really deserves wider play as it points to a deep malignancy within the groups of people who would think this was a keen idea in the first place.
Thank you, balbulican, for catching this. I had not gotten around to checking them out, but from what I have seen here (i.e., the homework you have done), I will remove their spam comments from my site and block them from posting again.
Thanks, Werner, that’s an excellent step. The other thing you can do is let them know you’ve done so, and possibly expose them on your blog as well. They’re still doing the rounds of the sites, but I think more and more people are catching on.
Dear StageLeft,
I hope you don’t really think of me as a Nazi. I hate them. I am, however, a conservative. I appreciate you doing this research for us. I am just a little hurt by your words. Don’t worry. I’m a big (little) girl. I’ll be over it by the time I hit Say It!
Rosemary, our politics here tend to be a little more nuanced than is the case on some other sites, although, as you can see, the dialogue tends to get a bit heated sometimes.
I don’t equate conservativism, or concerns about Islamic fascism, with Nazism at all. My reference to “neo-nazis” above was a reference to a disturing trend I’ve noticed on several European sites (and a couple of American ones) to call for closer relations between neo-nazis and anti-Muslim, anti-immigration groups. To me, any promotion of hatred is a bad idea: and I think such alliances make legitimate concerns about Islamist militance impossible to talk about.
Your integrity puts you way above all that muck.
So why have the motivations for the Crusades been reduced to right-wing talking points?
If the Crusades had succeeded, might they also have been known as a “reconquista”? Or perhaps the reconquista should be changed to the conquista, and Europeans should be embarrassed that Charles Martel turned back the Muslim Moors a few miles from Paris?
Vocal Muslims take great offense and vocal Judeo-Christians (religious and secular) are embarrassed by the events of 10 centuries ago. Something’s wrong with this picture.
And I am a Muslim against Islamofascism, and say goh xordi ahmaq kesafat nafahm keh hazrate mohammad ro gayeedam taa kiram az halqash beyaad biroon. Fahmidi maadar jendeh mollah koonlis?
May the Islamofascists Sadr, Nasrollah, Ahmadinejad, Khamenei, and their reactionary post-colonial fascist-left western supporters here all end up in one of Taliban’s torture chambers. May the qorAn be flushed down the toilet.
Hamid M.
Wow. And his name is Hamid and everything. So he must REALLY be a Muslim. I guess that settles it once and for all.
Wow “Hamid” – that was desperate.
If a Muslim wants to “flush the qoran down the toilet”, doesn’t that make them a….non-muslim?
Doesn’t the definition of a Muslim have something to do with the teachings of Mohammed…through the qoran?
$50 says you never had a conversation with a muslim you’re entire life, “Hamid”.
Hey idiot post-colonial douchebag lefto-fascist.
Do you know anything about Shariah or Islamic law as implemented in Muslim countries?
Obviously you are trying to impose your western cultural standards on us by thinking Islamic countries operate based on western notions of religion or citizenship. Hey douchebag, get a proper job, and get a brain, and study a little about the middle east.
In the middle east, if you are born to a Muslim, you are always a Muslim. There is no way to get out. Not even if you agree to be executed for apostasy, you are still considered a Muslim.
So STFU douchebag semi-literate racist. How is your hero Muqtada Sadr doing today? How many people did he torture last night?
Not sure where this “post-colonial” term is coming from.
“Douchebag” – I can live with that.
“Lefto-fascist” – not really.
You know guys, I’m not sure if I shoudl waste my time with this guy…but its just so tempting. But does it lower me?
Oh, and BTW – Muqtada asked me to tell you that you are the son of a motherless goat, and he is displeased with you. Not my words, they’re his.
Hamid, old buddy, we dealt with the redneck fake Muslim stuff above. Just reread it, wouldja, and don’t make us retype it all? Thanks.
balbulican: Rosemary, our politics here tend to be a little more nuanced than …
You mean “we don’t the fucking heck know what post-colonialism is, but we think we are pretty clever with our idiotic rationalizations and obscurantisms that we call ‘the nuanced’ – not that we don’t think in binary terms – like the one-dimensional left vs. right kind of thing”.
Get an education you douchebag Cultural Studies parasite on society – and in the meanwhile, STFU.
Kesafat hammal goh xordeh be man migeh keh mosalmoon nistam – ahmaq khodesh as kooneh molla sadr mixoreh, halaa fekr mikoneh gohi shodeh.
Balbulican – if you have a Muslim friend, go andget him to translate this for you – douchebag reactionary post-colonial parasite. Meanwhile get a burqa for your girlfriend or your Islamist friends will gang rape her for anti-Islamic enticement.
What is your job, can I ask? Just checking out my theory about the utter uselessness and leechhood of the poco left.
Hamid, old buddy, we dealt with the redneck fake Muslim stuff above. Just reread it, wouldja, and don’t make us retype it all? Thanks.
Kiram to kosseh naneh maadar jendehat kesaafat maadar mordeh naneh ga’yeedeh – kiram to dahaneh abjeet ey tazi parasteh kire eslami khor. Toxme Hazrat’e Mohammad child molester to dahanet.
I see you repeat the “nuanced” post balbulikoon. What happened – out of words? Get one of your Islamofascist veiled homophobe friend to translate my nuance to you.
