As predicted, the URQs are refocusing their post-Iowa sliming on Barack Obama. Leading the pack (and incidentally reaffirming its traditional standards for intelligence and maturity) is our own Western Standard, which provides the following insightful critique of Obama’s policies and vision.

a) The author “hates him on a personal level”. (Oh, well. why read any further? Anybody that…errr…”Adam T. Yoshida” hates on a personal level is obviously not presidential materia.)

b) He’s “pale and strangely off-putting, like a transexual”. (I didn’t know transexuals were pale. Did you know transexuals were pale?)

c) He’s “on the far left”. (Note for Canadian readers…that means he’d be something like a Canadian Conservative.)

d) He “claims” to be Christian, but there’s no way he could actually ever prove to Adam T. Yoshida’s satisfaction that he’s not “Mohamedean”. (Kinda like Ronald Reagan and George Bush and the Archbishop of Canterbury all claim to Christian, but can’t actually prove they’re not secretly “Mohamadeans”.) Adam says he doesn’t really think that Obama IS “Mohamedean”, but he can’t PROVE that he’s not. And his middle name is Husein, which is a lot like Hussein, right?

e) He’s a “he’s a limp-wristed weakling” with a “girlishly sensitive countenance and character”. (Pale AND girlish AND sensitive AND transexual. Holy cow.)

That’s pretty much it. Cutting political commentary from Canada’s highest profile URQ blog, the one that committed itself just a few weeks ago to a whole new level of maturity and meaningful political coverage.
