Day 2, And I’m Already Boggled

The rise in feminism has allowed liberties and prosperity for women which could never be understood or realized in nations in the Middle East, which labour under the delusion that a juggernaut economy can be manufactured out of the diligence of the male work force [oil-rich nations like United Emirates notwithstanding]. At the same time, it is interesting to note that extreme social conservatism in the Middle East has staved off all of the ills which come with women’s liberation, like higher crime, poverty rates based on income gaps between families, divorce and psychological dysfunction, and a host of other problems. One might say that feminism has been a “necessary evil”, but insofar as that it has addressed the inequities of women, the ideology has fallen far short in addressing the socio-economic inequalities it has created, and erroneously blames it on white male-European entrenchment.

(emphasis mine)

Ya know, Raphaels post has sat on my monitor for the last 2 hours with me trying to figure out a way to respond to something like that – in the end I just couldn’t.

Higher crime, the income gap poverty, divorce and psychological dysfunction, and a host of other problems, are the fault of women not being home in the kitchen with one baby in a soggy diaper and another one on the way?

I guess it’s true, we never should have let them wear pants, or vote…… how much better life would be if women were forced to stay at home, in sad marriage, wearing a dress and apron, looking after their mans heirs, and waiting for the weekly household allowance.

Day 2 of the new blogging year and my mind is already completely boggled, that just can’t be good.

Me too, I’m boggled too! I can’t decide if he’s serious or just jerking around trying to get some attention. Either way, my patience is wearing thin…

His post might qualify as the silliest argument I have read in a long long time.

I find it exceedingly difficult to believe that anyone could take seriously the idea that if women had not risen above the status of their husband or fathers personal property that the world, or even western society, would be a better place than it currently is.

With a little bit of motivation and creative writing one could pick just about any event in recent history and blame it for all the ills of the world….. my question is, what was the motivation for coming out with such a statement?

    Mother issues?

I don’t know if it was mother issues NB, but you have to wonder about issues with women in general.

This one is a keeper. It proves, beyond any doubt, the existence of an Islamofascist/conservative axis of evil. Next time you hear some right-winger claim that the left and Islamic fundamentalism are allies (Terry Glavin springs to mind, for some reason), toss this one right back at them.

We’ve been drawing parallels between our so-cons and theirs for years. And Raph is here as Exhibit A.

What Dawg said. Like the case for war in Iraq, RA’s case began with a conclusion (”Too many non-white immigrants — shrieeeeek! — = the collapse of Civilization As We Know It”) and worked backwards from there. Weak. Really weak.
