In fact, this kind of situation deserves the kind of justice only a lynch mob can provide. I have a sibling who endured the same sadistic treatment with her biological family 25 years ago (at the age of 11) and lives with the emotional issues to this day. Her abusers never saw the inside of a courtroom, were never arrested, and will never see prison (at least not as a result of their abuse of my sister). If my parents had not adopted my sister when they did, she would have endured the same treatment for years - well into adulthood methinks. In cases like this - cultural sensitivity flies straight out the window. Unfortunately this kind of "justice" takes place here in Canada too.
