Some of Canada’s top CEO’s have come forward to suggest that the Canadian Government needs to come up with a plan - a real policy - on the issue of climate change. What they did not mention was that the lack of any direction on the issue was due to a Liberal government that loved to talk the game of climate change but did nothing to combat it. They also didn’t say anything on the topic of the current CPC (New) government who only 18 months ago denied that there was any climate change issue at all. They have since changed their position out of self interest and appointed the Minister of Obfuscation to tackle it. Canada’s Green Party on the other hand, supposedly champions of the cause, issue shrill and silly statements that do nothing move the issue forward on the agenda one bit. And they wonder why we have no direction on reducing green house gases?

I’m trying to figure out why I can’t by a Quebec-made electric Zenn car, as highlighted by Rick Mercer. Apparently they’ve passed the federal test(s) and it’s now up to the provinces, although you CAN buy them in the States.
Where is Buzz? (oops, likely a non-union shop) Where is Duceppe? Layton? Dion? Yes, I know I just said it’s up to the provinces, but when has something like a fact got in the way of a good question (or for that matter, answer) in QP?
– and I’m trying to figure out why you listed Buzz, Duceppe, Layton, and Dion… but missed that other party leader who also might have some influence :-)

I listed Duceppe, Layton & Dion because they all seem to be convinced that Harper & his government are so non-green as to be brown and they all pretend to be defenders of Quebec (when it suits L & D, anyway) so why aren’t they defending this Quebec green business and demanding the cars be deemed safe across the country, full stop?
I listed Buzz because he cares so much for autoworkers - the union kind, anyway - and has moaned loud and long about how the current government is killing the auto industry. This appears to be yet another attempt to kill that damn industry, no? Of course, that the Toyota (or whatever their current name is) and Honda plants are doing fine is somehow ignored by Buzz, or is that just because they are non-union? Those autoworkers have paycheques, no?
And I know that you know that Harper is evil and brown, not good and green, therefore it would be foolish to expect him or his gov’t to come to the defense of a green Canadian car, so there is no point in listing him.

I was glad to see Jack Layton’s statement to the BC Federation of Labour on the NDP website today re greencollar jobs/economy. Rather than just shuffling the musical deckchairs on Planet Titanic, this was an interesting development and a solid approach to integrate labour and works to disprove Harper’s claims that the ecomony will suffer if real action is taken by government.
