Au Revoir

Later today I’ll be heading off to Montreal, and thence to Atlanta, and thence, on a smaller plane, to Honduras, and thence, on an even smaller plane, to Roatan, and thence, on the teeniest plane of the bunch, to the little island of Utila. And there, for a few weeks, I will dive, and shoot video, and look for whale sharks, and read, and practice my Tor Yus and Dan Yus, and not work, and not blog, and hopefully return a bronzed, relaxed and once again pleasant person.

Don’t let the world fall apart while I’m gone, neighbours – I’m counting on you all to hold it together in my absence.

Stay vigilant for attempts to suppress Christmas (by the way, I just heard that an Ontario school board pulled “Golden Compass” off the shelves because a parent complained that Philip Pullman was an atheist.)

And someone periodically smack Scenty, wouldja?

All the best, my friends.

    Bon voyage mon ami.

May the diving be clear and the marine life plentiful. I envy you immensely. I REALLY need a trip to charge my batteries right now too.

“I’m counting on you all to hold it together in my absence.”

To quote General George S. Patton:

“Now there’s another thing I want you to remember. I don’t want to get any messages saying we’re holding our position. We’re not holding anything. Let the Hun do that. We are advancing constantly and we’re not interested in holding onto anything but the enemy. We’re going to hold him by the nose and we’re going to kick him in the ass! We’re going to kick the hell out of him all the time and we’re going to go through him like crap through a goose!”

Things will be in good hands while you are gone. :)

    My favorites:

[about his pistol grips]“They’re ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol. ”

“When you put your hand into a bunch of goo that a moment before was your best friend’s face, you’ll know what to do. ”

    Heh…goo.

Have a great trip. It was -18 C when we had our fire drill at 05:00.

You’re leaving just in time. Ontario just got dumped on by freezing rain and sleet.
