Full Text of an email sent this morning to the Center for Vigilant Freedom, an American litterbox populated by the kind of panicked, racist coward discussed here (plus, of course, Scenty the Terror-Stricken).

Good morning. I am writing to request clarification of your editorial policy regarding the publication and deletion of comments.

A bit of background. I am Canadian blogger who, along with two other writers, operate a blog that accommodates a diverse range of political and social discussions. We encourage participation and discussion from readers of every political perspective.

Several weeks ago I was directed to your blog through the site operated by one of your contributors, Canadian Sentinel. Though I disagreed with much of what I read, I found the site generally well written, and certainly thought provoking. I was particularly impressed with your statement that your “members encompass many religious beliefs, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, apostates, agnostics and atheists, all races, ages and genders, at least 21 nationalities, and a wide range of opinion on political and social issues”.

I also find myself in complete agreement with many of your stated principles, including your statement that “liberty must be founded upon the right of all individuals to live without fear of oppression by governmental or religious powers”, your explicit repudiation of “all motives sourced from hate, revenge, or intolerance”, and your promotion of “individual rights, the separation of church and state, and the universal values of freedom of speech and expression, of religion, the right to assembly and association.”

I have engaged in several threads over the last couple of months, and have enjoyed some very stimulating and civil discussions with other correspondents.

I have noted lately, however, that my comments are being deleted.

In the first instance, I responded with civility to a post which suggested, incorrectly, that Canada’s chief electoral officer was somehow acting improperly in refusing to ban veiled voters. I pointed out, correctly, that there is absolutely no provision in Canada’s elections act to support such a ban, and posted a link to the Act itself to allow your readership to confirm the accuracy of my assertion. This post was removed.

I then posted a polite inquiry requesting your comments policy, so that I could avoid future deletions. This inquiry was deleted.

Earlier today Canadian Sentinel published a post warning of an impending e-jihad, and cautioning your readership to be vigilant of their neighbours, who might be part of this conspiracy. I posted a fairly straightforward inquiry, requesting suggestions on what would constitute suspicious, pre-e-jihadesque behaviour on the part of a neighbour. Once again, my inquiry was deleted.

I find myself a bit mystified. Having followed your site for several weeks now, I’ve read quite a few postings and threads that would seem to be at odds with your statement of principles…demands that all Muslims in America be forced to convert or forcibly expelled from the country, suggestions that there is no such thing as a “moderate Muslim”, the need to establish a Christian state in the USA, suggestions that Islamic countries should immediately be bombed flat, and so on. I must say I’m confused by your deletion of my relatively innocuous questions and comments, when a fair amount of egregious hatemongering remains on your site (I will be pleased to provide either links or screenshots if you’d like to review the posts in question.)

However, as a Canadian, I am, of course, eager to accommodate your needs. I am thus asking for clarification of how I transgressed, and will be pleased to adhere to your guidelines in the future.

I will be publishing this note in full on our website, as well as on two national aggregators. I look forward to your response, and thanks in advance for your clarification.

Within minutes, I received the following response from the Head Brownshirt, a Ms. Christine Brim, “Executive Director”.

Mr. Balbulican,

Due to the content of some of your comments, you were blocked. Individual comments are not being deleted – you are automatically blocked.

Please post this note at your blog, as you suggest, and all aggregators. I hope it will help educate the public about our policies.

My response:

Thanks, Christine, for the prompt response. But that’s not helpful. May I ask what was found to be objectionable about my comments?

Still waiting for a response to that one. As I said, it’s not very helpful. But the point seems to be: if you disagree with the site’s view that all Muslims are conspirators against the United States, Western Civilization, and Christianity, then your comments will simply be removed.

More later about this site and the peculiar mindset these charming latter-day neonazis are festering in.
