In the wake of the killing of innocent people in Baghdad the US is looking to tighten rules for their mercenaries security contractors in Iraq, including getting the US military involved…. probably because they’ve got such a stellar record in keeping civilians safe and treating them with courtesy and respect during the occupation ‘eh?

It’s funny, in that pathetic sort of way we’re all familiar with, to note that they’re [apparently] back to the hearts and minds thing, at least in a general, we’re gonna at least talk like it’s part of the program, sort of way.

Analysts have said the mission of security guards, who may be more inclined to threaten or use force to protect their clients, can conflict with the broader U.S. military mission of winning over the Iraqi population to defeat insurgents.

Note to US military: If that’s your mission you have failed quite dismally - they neither like you, nor trust you.
