For those involved in the argument, it was ferocious - I saw some good friendships go up in smoke during the Schiavo debate. Schiavo was a very large issue to those who are passionate about right-to-life/pro-life issues and those on the opposite side of the argument. I would argue that the other 80-90% of the general public made a quick judgement call on the case, based on their own beliefs, and pretty much ignored it, and don’t remember the details, either.
