Disappearing Up Our Own Asses

Is it just me, or does it seem to anyone else that blogdom has been consuming itself of late?

I think it’s just you. Normal service will resume shortly after Parliament gets back into session.

    God, I hope you’re right.

Let’s be fair – my post had nothing to do with the aforementioned other links, and I wouldn’t even be going anywhere near that mess, but for the attempted hijacking of the thread.

I’ve been watching this snowball roll down the mountain for a few days, now, and I can’t help wondering what will happen when it hits the bottom. There’s a kind of fascination with it akin to watching an incipient train wreck.

One of these days, the children will grow up and we’ll wonder what we ever did for entertainment…

I can’t help wondering what will happen when it hits the bottom.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from following US politics, it’s that when it comes to politics there’s no such thing as the bottom. No matter how low someone can go, there’s always someone who can limbo under them.

I’ve sometimes wondered if blogging is an inherently self-centred medium. It does often seem to bring out the worst in people, as your examples illustrate.

Self centered? Why I think I wrote a post about that, that you all should read at this link…

Oops, there I go being centered in myself again :-)

Yeah Stageleft, it’s getting crazy out there. At least some nutty lawsuits are being dismissed though

This confirms that too many people are spending too much time in front of the computer blogging. As one who did the same not too long ago, I know how this happens.

It’s best to step away from it for a while, go blogabout, enjoy the sunshine and real life activities and either give it up forever or find some balance.

Good advice, Treehugger. I am going to cut down on my blogging time so that I can concentrate on Facebook.

Hi Balbulican! Aren’t you being a little harsh? Didn’t Red Tory and I have to defend ourselves from Werner’s unwarranted attacks. I got off lightly compared to RT…who never should have had to put up with that shit. I was actually a bit disappointed that more Bloggers didn’t come to his defence. Still at least Red knew who Wernie was. I’d never heard of the guy before he wrote a post criticizing me for calling for the return of Omar Khadr….and calling me the dumbest blogger in Canada.
I mean after that didn’t I have an OBLIGATION to prove him right????
Although I still think this response was better…since the video kinda sums up the situation almost as efficiently as your post…. ;)

Heh. I was one of “Shun Werner” camp myself. I don’t know that much about the guy, but he obviously thrives on attention; the cruellest thing you can do to someone like that is to simply ignore him.

I don’t know about the crawling up its own ass thing, because I avoid the more vitriolic blogs, of any political persuasion. But it does seem to me the blogosphere is tired. People seem to be posting less and less, and a lot have just left entirely. The novelty seems to have worn off.
