The Charge of the Light Brigade II

“Where failure itself is often honourable, failing to stay the course is not, and that’s what’s in the air”, writes Christie Blatchford in today’s Globe and Mail.

There’s something deeply sick about the notion that persisting in a fatally flawed course of action is somehow heroic, or even desirable. We remember with awe the heroism of Lord Cardigan’s troops at Balaclava; but unlike many of our URQ commentators, nobody pretends their mission was a good idea.

How would Tennyson say it? Let me count the words:
Liberals to the left of them,
Islamofacsists to the right of them,
    Puffins in front of them,
    Warn’d and discourag’d
Stormed at with MSM and word
    boldly and well they rode
    Into the jaws of fiasco
    into the mouth of disaster
rode the remains of the neocons….
…sorry Lord Alfred, my poetry prof was never impressed either.
