Let’s See…..

Where did we go today.

Three of us loaded up out bikes about 10:30 this morning and, after meeting up at a local Rocken Johnny’s for coffee and a bite to eat, started off with no particular destination in mind at all. We ended up in Prescott and toured an 1830’s fort, then we went to Brockville, and from there on to Rockport, where we decided that stopping for something more to eat, would be a good idea.

After eats and a smoke it was on to Gananoque and then Kingston, Glenburnie, Invernary, Buck Lake, Westport, and on up through the Townships of the Rideau Lakes towards Smith Falls – we didn’t actually go in to Smith Falls though, apparently there are “authorities” there who are not kind to folks on bikes, so we headed for Merrickville (where there are lots of bikes) and stopped in for coffee and a smoke. Rested, coffee’d, and smoked, we headed on through Burnitts Rapids, scooted up towards Munster, toured through Richmond, and ultimately made it back to Ottawa.

It was a good day to be on the bikes, no significant mechanical issues presented themselves, we missed every dog, cat, squirrel, plus some other dark furry creature that moved really fast, that tried to make the dash from one side of the road to the other at a less than opportune moment, and I was only dive bombed by one bumble-bee… little bugger got me almost dead centre in the chest, and since I was only wearing a t-shirt, I felt it.

Someday I’ll figure out why, once each trip, at least one of their number feels compelled to commit Hara-kiri upon my person… since others I ride with do not get hit by these critters I am starting to get somewhat suspicious about what they’re up to.

Sounds like a great day. I could be wrong, but perhaps the bees, with their strong monarchist beliefs, take issue with your politics?

Good point about the monarchy, but given that us leftists are all hive-minded, you’d have thought there’d be a little more professional courtesy.

Those killer bees. I was once hit with a bee at 70mph and it felt like someone shot me in the face. Bee careful, SL.
