Is The Time Finally Near?

Jack Cafferty has an interesting question up on CNN today, “What does it mean if 80 cities and towns have passed resolutions calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney?” - because apparently they have.

Coupled with a news clip about the one million American signatures on a petition to impeach the president and the vice-president, and a statement that Speaker of the House Pelosi had no right to take impeachment off the table, it hopefully it means the writing is on the wall for Bush and Cheney.

We might also ask what this means

Oregonians called Peter DeFazio’s office, worried there was a conspiracy buried in the classified portion of a White House plan for operating the government after a terrorist attack.

As a member of the U.S. House on the Homeland Security Committee, DeFazio, D-Ore., is permitted to enter a secure “bubbleroom” in the Capitol and examine classified material. So he asked the White House to see the secret documents.

On Wednesday, DeFazio got his answer: DENIED.

My suggestion is that it means that the good people of Oregon probably do in fact have something to worry about.

    Whoa, Really?

What Cheney doesn’t seem to understand is that if you’re going to be totalitarian bastards, you’ve got to go all the way.

    I love Big Brother.

Although I just know I’ll be accused of using inferior quality tin foil, I can see a major terrorist attack in the US resulting in an “Executive Government”.

As for the impeachment, I’m glad to see they are going after both of them; taking Bush out and leaving Cheney in charge would be a disaster.

It’s not that big a leap.

Many of our URQ friends are now simply lowering their bar to whatever the current US administration does, and retrofitting their standards for governance to accommodate each new descent.

There’s something radically wrong with that administration. I hate to sound like I need a tinfoil hat, but I would never underestimate Cheney.

My friend Jesseofthenorth and I have been discussing how we think its going to happen. (”It” being how a terrorist attack will force the administration to take over the American government, for “national security” reasons of course).

I figger it’ll be something like the discovery of Al-Qaeda cells operating within several American major cities. Don’t know if there will be any bombings or anything, just the “discovery” to scare people just enough.

Cheney refuses to release his office documents to the GAO…claims he is not part of the executive branch.
Then, when the president gets roto-rootered for polyps, he becomes part of the executive branch for a few hours to be acting president. Wonder if goofy is grounds for impeachment?

You might want to upgrade the quality of your tinfoil - I find that Reynolds Extra Strength works quite well.
