Welcome To Canada’s New Government

If you don’t want to answer questions, or have the answers you do give fact checked – withhold the facts.

The office of General Rick Hillier, Canada’s top soldier, has halted the release of any documents relating to detainees captured in Afghanistan under the federal Access to Information Act, claiming that disclosure of any such information could endanger Canadian troops.

I recall hearing the same sort of things out of the US government — do phrases like, we can’t release the video or images of what our troops did to the prisoners because that will inflame public opinion against the soldiers and further endanger them, sound vaguely familiar to anyone?

The odds of Hillier running as a Conservative in an upcoming election just went from “possible” to “good”.
