I took a brief tour through the Blogging Tories blogroll today to see what they may be saying about Bill Casey and the whole “we don’t expel people from caucus when they disagree with us” gig the CPoC had going for a while.
There are those who are asking the intelligent questions
Shouldn’t Mr. Harper honour his promise?
The Honourable Peter MacKay previously stood in the House and said that CPC caucus members do not need to fear expulsion if they vote with conscience on the Budget. Nobody corrected him, not even the Prime Minister. One assumes, then, that his word is true, as good as a signed document.
Should Bill Casey then not be expelled?
On this single story we have two glaring examples of broken promises and flip-flopping on commitments, the very things the CPC told Canadians would end if they ousted the Liberals and put the CPC in the driver’s seat. Refusal to keep their written and spoken word has cast their integrity into question.
– and those defending the party to the bitter end
Oooh, the Conservatives are so mean for kicking out an MP after he voted against the government’s budget. Progressive Blogging retards appear to know less about Parliament than they do about picking up women without having a twenty-dollar-bill handy. Casey should consider himself lucky. Chretien would have kicked him out of caucus and ripped his beating heart from his chest and pushed him down a pyramid staircase. And then eaten the heart.
I can’t stand the Maritimes, but what I really can’t stand is former Progressive Conservatives. Could they be any more of an irritant? Casey is out, Garth is a self-aggrandizing jackass, and Peter MacKay is increasingly the government’s Frank Drebin. Way to go with the promise of caucus immunity, Pete. If anyone wants to know how to be a good minister, check out the member formerly known as a theocratic lunatic but now known as Minister Day.
And yes, Liberal consistency blowhards, I am perfectly fine with Dion having kicked Joe Whatever out of his caucus for voting against the party. It’s what leaders do. It’s how Parliament works. If you don’t like it, move to Holland.
That’s what makes party politics so great isn’t it Peter, what other arena lets you leap to your feet, stand up straight, and cry, in a loud, clear, voice…. ‘my party lied and I’ll defend them for it ’till the end for doing so’?
PS: Peter, are you ever gonna consider turning comments on?
On a completely different matter, while I was at the Blogging Tories site I noticed something that makes me ask, what is Captain Ed doing on the roll?
He’s a Californian who lives in Minnesota and doesn’t carry the Blogging Tories listing on his site in a visible location as required according to their sign up page.
Maybe the question I should be asking is if Captain Ed even knows he’s on their roll?

It’s rather humourous to note that when Progressive Bloggers first started up, Rempel actually applied to be an affiliate - I think on the basis he was a “Red Tory” or one that thought progressively or something.
I don’t know if it was a serious application, or if he was just trying to get on the roll to cause mischief, but needless to say, he was shot down.
