Initial reports indicate that Iraqi confidence in American ability to keep its’ word is now at an all time high.
The US Army tried to kill or capture Muqtada al-Sadr, the widely revered Shia cleric, after luring him to peace negotiations at a house in the holy city of Najaf, which it then attacked, according to a senior Iraqi government official.
To quote Red Forman, ‘the dumbass that thought that plan up needs a boot up their ass’.
Just where is the “win” aspect of this particular brain fart storm?
* if they capture him they cannot be trusted,
* if they kill him they cannot be trusted, and
* if they fail to do either, they cannot be trusted
- way to come up with a no-win plan guys.
Maybe if you had listened to that guy in the back of the room (and we all know there had to have been one) who said, ‘hey, why don’t we try actually negotiating with al-Sadr’, instead of demoting him to carrot peeler at camp Gitmo, things might be different.
– idiots.

Thats REALLY messed up.
He could become a very powerful and valuable ally, but that wouldn’t give Dubyah the bragging rights he so desperately wants in the U.S.
I wonder how much play this will get in the media - I notice the article has yesterdays date on it, and I haven’t heard a peep yet. C’mon Olbermann!!!
