Is Harper’s Soul In Danger?
With this hanging over him can Harper hope to win the next election, will God turn his face against him, and does it explain his cats?
One of the folks over at the Blogging Tories discussion forum writes, in reply to my comment on the psychic aspect of this:
If anything it should help people see that Mr. Harper is an open minded person – all too often people rail against him for being too evangelical and – here we can see his having association with this noted individual should demonstrate that his faith doesn’t impede his ability to deal with others – others considered on the outside by most evangelicals!
Hummmm, speaking of evangelicals, doesn’t the bible have something to say about this?
Leviticus 20:6 – The person who turns after mediums and familiar spirits, God says He would set His face against that person and cut him off from his people.
Well, that does it then, doesn’t it? The same bible used by the Conservative anti-SSM crowd to justify their position on that issue is quite clear on this one as well.
The bible even suggests what should be done to people like Ms. Muntean
Leviticus 20:27 – A man or a woman who is a medium, or who has familiar spirits, shall surely be put to death; they shall stone them with stones.
From a biblical perspective it’s not looking good for PM Steve is it?
Now I’m pretty sure, being the good Christian that he is, that PM Steve knows what his faiths holy book has to say on this matter – the question becomes then, why is he engaging in this spiritually risky behaviour if he is the good Christian that he wants us to believe that he is?
Could his cats, famous familiars throughout history themselves, be part of the answer?

No-one’s pointed out the funniest thing of all.
Folks have pointed out in the past that Harper’s need to micromanage and control everybody in his orbit have meant that he has a lot of mediocrities working for him – compliance is more important to him that competence.
I sure hope his fortuneteller is compliant, because I gotta ask: what kind of mediocre frickin’ psychic FAILED TO SEE THIS SHITSTORM COMING??
Puhleeze.
Pick one. Either he’s a kitten-eating automaton or he’s a flake. You can’t have both.
Even I, a moderate* Harpermaniac, cannot fathom him consulting a psychic and recognize pure, unadulterated BS when I see it. And, frankly, I think you (collectively) do, too.
*moderate as compared to, say, ChuckerCanuck.
Harper is no hard core evangelical. He goes to church on occasion, which pretty much puts him in the mainstream with other Canadians.
Just because this assistant is rumored to be a “psychic”, doesn’t mean she is one or has given him any council.
She’s there for image advice and if she prevents him from ever showing up in public in a poorly fitting Deputy Dog out fit again, she’s worth every penny. Even if it’s on the taxpayer (which hasn’t been proven either).
“And, frankly, I think you (collectively) do, too.”
Yes, Candace, we do. You need to take your sense of humour in for a spring tuneup.
Whooee! Nastboy, Ms. Muntean was on the PM’s staff when he wore that stoopidass cowboy suit. She travels with Steve so until he sez oitherwise, I can only figger she drsssed him in that bigass hat an’ leather vest. She’s a Trawna gal so maybe she never seen a real cowboy before.
The reason it ain’t been “proven” that she’s paid by you an’ me is that the PM’s office is so secretive that we ain’t been able to find out what we derserve to know. From what yer guy John Reynolds sez, the public pays fer her time an’ the CPoC pays her travel expenses. That ain’t proff but it is an acknowledgement by a senior Tory that the public is footin’ the bill fer the psychic make-gal.
As far as whether she’s really a psychic or just rumoured to be one, I ain’t sure there’s such a thing as a real psychic. I reckon there’s probbly fewer Canajuns who believe in psychic powers than there are Canajuns who believe in the Con ideology. Most Canajuns I know are reality-based.
I seen a article a coupla months back that sed most Merkans believe in angels. Canajuns, not so much, sez I.
Any Conservative who defends the idea that our PM should spend public money on his own personal primper, psychic or not, should start askin’ if they’re really conservative or if they’re merely Harper cheerleaders who’ll accept an’ defend anything their hero does. Small-c conservatism has no place for such wastefulness an’ vanity at public expense.
Cons oughta be agitatin’ fer Muntean’s dismissal an’ fer a full accountin’ of how much we’ve paid her. We deserve to know where our money’s goin’. That’s a basic tenet of conservatism an’ a basic idea behind the so-called Accountability Act.
If I were a Harper backer, I’d be embarrassed. Shee-it! As a Canajun, I am embarrassed as hell that we gotta PM who keeps a hair, clothes an’ make-up gal on his staff an’ pays her secretly from the public purse.
