I see that the Canadian Sentinel has decided to make his 'those poor Brits wuz abused' point by comparing radical extremists and how they treat prisoners to how Canadians treat prisoners.

We know that the fifteen innocent Marines, who were merely following the United Nations' orders and weren't in Iranian waters at all, were subjected to far, far, far worse physical and psychological "treatment" than are the Jihadist suspects in Canada. Did we in Canada blindfold, strip, tie them up, push them up against the wall, making the sound of cocking rifles and of throats being slashed, making them think that the whole thing was over, and not in a good way? They also made a non-Muslim woman wear a headscarf, in violation of her human right to choose! They forced false confessions out of them, too.

There's an interesting comparison isn't it? I dare say that if every military and militant group in the world asked themselves "What Would Canada Do" conflicts would be conducted on a level of politeness never before seen outside of a game of Risk on the table at the old folks home down the street.

He could probably make the same comparison between Canada and about just about any military in the world, we're more likely to talk an extremist into submission than anything else....

Canadian guard: ..... let me tell ya there Abdul, it was cold that winter, it was so cold that me poor grand pappy's teeth chattered for a week straight - in the glass beside his bead old son, in the glass beside his bed!! Would you like some sugar in your tea there mate? We took him to the clinic over in the big town on day 3 because he was stiffening up something fierce and since we couldn't find a place to plug 'em in we had to keep the dogs running in place the whole 9 hours it took us to get seen by the doctor .... don't believe everything you hear about out health care system, by the way, are you comfortable in there, need an extra blanket or something maybe?. You can believe me or not but it was so cold that winter that we had to eat with plastic knives and forks because the metal ones wuz getting stuck to our lips, and.....

Prisoner: Enough, enough, I'll tell you whatever you want to hear, just make it stop!!

Strip prisoners naked? Hell, more than likely if one of our men or women came across a naked prisoner they'd lend them their jacket while they went looking for the bugger that took the poor souls pants, all the while averting their eyes so that they didn't seem improper, we're polite that way.

Water boarding and beating the life out of prisoners are things that extremists engage in - we leave that to countries like Iran and the United States where folks don't seem that concerned about what brush they're painted with.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('109823','stageleft','I see that the Canadian Sentinel has decided to make his \'those poor Brits wuz abused\'<\/i> point by comparing radical extremists and how they treat prisoners to how Canadians treat prisoners<\/a>.\r\n\r\n
We know that the fifteen innocent Marines, who were merely following the United Nations\' orders and weren\'t in Iranian waters at all, were subjected to far, far, far worse physical and psychological \"treatment\" than are the Jihadist suspects in Canada.

We know that the fifteen innocent Marines, who were merely following the United Nations’ orders and weren’t in Iranian waters at all, were subjected to far, far, far worse physical and psychological “treatment” than are the Jihadist suspects in Canada.

There’s an interesting comparison isn’t it? I dare say that if every military and militant group in the world asked themselves “What Would Canada Do” conflicts would be conducted on a level of politeness never before seen outside of a game of Risk on the table at the old folks home down the street.

He could probably make the same comparison between Canada and about just about any military in the world, we’re more likely to talk an extremist into submission than anything else….

Canadian guard: ….. let me tell ya there Abdul, it was cold that winter, it was so cold that me poor grand pappy’s teeth chattered for a week straight – in the glass beside his bead old son, in the glass beside his bed!! Would you like some sugar in your tea there mate? We took him to the clinic over in the big town on day 3 because he was stiffening up something fierce and since we couldn’t find a place to plug ‘em in we had to keep the dogs running in place the whole 9 hours it took us to get seen by the doctor …. don’t believe everything you hear about out health care system, by the way, are you comfortable in there, need an extra blanket or something maybe?. You can believe me or not but it was so cold that winter that we had to eat with plastic knives and forks because the metal ones wuz getting stuck to our lips, and…..

Fans of the Sentinel may enjoy this thread at the Politic:

http://www.thepolitic.com/archives/2007/04/03/three-cheers-for-racial-apartheid-in-canada

Scenty wades in about halfway through the thread as an "anonymous" commentator, then pretends he's not Sentinel, then pretends he's several different people, then blows up and promises to stalk me around the net.

I can't wait. It was fun embarassing him on his own site, but it's even more fun when it happens on a conservative site that's actually trying for serious discussion - suddenly there's one of their own ranting about poopyhead Islamofascinazimuzicommieliebranofags. I feel a bit sorry for the poor guys at the Politic, but hey, he's a fellow Blogging Tory, so...

Come on over and join the fun.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('109773','balbulican','Fans of the Sentinel may enjoy this thread at the Politic:\r\n\r\nhttp:\/\/www.thepolitic.com\/archives\/2007\/04\/03\/three-cheers-for-racial-apartheid-in-canada\r\n\r\nScenty wades in about halfway through the thread as an \"anonymous\" commentator, then pretends he\'s not Sentinel, then pretends he\'s several different people, then blows up and promises to stalk me around the net. \r\n\r\nI can\'t wait.
Whooee! Well DonFeller, they say them that don't learn their history lessons is bound t' make the selfsame mistakes over an' over again. Joe McCarthy's small-minded nastiness was what done him in an' what spelled the end of an ugly chapter in the Merkan history book.

Welch: You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?
At this point, the entire American public viewed McCarthy with disdain. On television, the senator from Wisconsin came off as cruel, manipulative and reckless.

Any numbnuts who's sayin' we need McCarthyism is lackin' in a coupla things -- education an' human decency.
