The Shmohawk Has Landed; Lock Up Your Preconceptions!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Bloggers, Commenters, Lurkers and Other Esteemed Guests…it give us great pleasure to announce that The Shmohawk Has Landed. You are cordially invited – nay, urged! COMMANDED! – to check out his new digs, Shmohawk’s Shmorg.

I can’t put it better than he does himself:

Home is, and always will be, Kanehsatake Mohawk Territory just west of Montreal, Quebec. Circumstances plunk one down in unexpected and sometimes wonderful places like Tyendinaga. I work with FNTI’s Indigenous Communications Dept. I teach, coach, instruct people in writing, journalism, radio, TV, and online. Life is interesting; full of new and totally unexpected avenues and opportunities. In my downtime, I sit at my desk overlooking a marvellous Bay in all its glory and wonder. Now that the snow is clearing, my bike is finally out of storage and the roads here are long, winding, and waiting.

The dude is a bit too modest, methinks. He fails to mention his years of experience with two of Canada’s national broadcasters, his national magazine awards, or his international work as a broadcast trainer and journalist. So I won’t either.

The blogosphere is filled with self-professed experts on media, journalism, culture and Aboriginal people. If you want to engage with the Real Deal for a change, you now know where to go.

While here be mindful of the words of Buddha: Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true.
